Review summary

I would set sail with Carnival again I would also go on other cruise lines for better deals.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
not to bad but not great either. people pushing and have no room to walk

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
the service in main dining rooms needs improvement. Late opening dining room for guests every night and slow service all the time.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
to many activities scheduled for the same time you had to pick and choose which one you rather go to instead of being able to do more.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
enjoyed all the live entertainment and great selection of music played

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
outside of the waiters in the dining room service was okay. stewards just need to fully clean cabin. cruise director and his staff were very good

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
everything seemed to be clean and well taken care of

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
lots of room and comfortable bed but cleanliness of bathroom every day was poor counters left uncleaned and floors dirty

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

3 out of 5
too many shops of the same items and over priced especially near cruise ship was docked.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

2 out of 5
did not care for the beach and activities were to expensive to do. no room at the beach to enjoy the surroundings. would not go there again

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
had a good time did a bus tour which was okay because of the tour guide he was awesome.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
They need a better way of getting 2900 plus people off the ship. Too many trying to get to lower areas because you were only allowed to be on 2 decks to wait to disembark and customes were so slow

Each cruise line is different. Try others, my last cruise was with Royal Caribbean and once they called out debarkation group we walked strait through the ship and off. Dining rooms can be slow. We always ask for a smaller table. You don't have as many people needing to be served before you get the next course.

The regular disembarkation process is actually pretty good put out your luggage night before and leave when your number is called. You will be off by 9:00-9:30. Wake up, go to breakfast and relax in designated areas. Self assist debarkation is a pain because everyone is trying to get off at the same time. Self assist also creates a backlog at customs desk. The reason that events are scheduled at the same time is so that the crowd is spread throughout the ship. A ship with 3000-6000 people on a ship, can't do the same thing at the same time. If you have entertainment in different venues then you split up the crowds, it's done deliberately so you don't feel like you are in a sardine can.... Slow service in the main dining room, hate to say this but it's the nature of the beast. Never seen a fast main dining room experience. For faster dining, the speciality restaurants are the way to go. Cooking and serving for 100 guests is going to be faster than cooking and serving for 1000-2000 guests. Hope these tips help you on your next cruise.

I have been on the Carnival Freedom but have found Royal Caribbean to better suit me. It would be worth your time to do some research and read reviews on this app and also Cruisecritic.com has good reviews.

Sounds like cruising may not be for you. It’s not for everyone, but most love it. As far as departure, I’m not Sure they have many other options to try to get 2900 people off of the ship and then have the rooms and other areas ready for the 2900 that will be boarding shortly thereafter. Better departure experience, take a smaller ship with 1,500 passengers or less.
