Review summary

I was not happy at all with the smoking area on the freedom.  It was one the side of the ship where the exhaust or something that was really loud was on the 10th floor.  If you tried to talk you were not able to hear each other for the noise, we had no music like the rest of the ship, not to mention we were not allow to watch the dive in movies at night.  It annoys me to no end when I paid the same amount for the cruise that everyone else did and should have access to those amenities just as the non-smokers do.  Have been on several cruises but the first on the Freedom.  never have a been so put out, wondering if i want to continue to cruise with carnival....

I am currently battling lung disease strictly due to second hand smoke all my life. I cannot walk very far or do anything strenuous because others smoked around me and for most of my life there was not any education on what happens to you when others smoke!!!

Oh wahhhhh, "I couldn't have any fun without a cigarette in my mouth! " It must be hard being you! Not sure where you are from but in Upstate NY you pretty much can't smoke in any public area, bar, restaurant or movie theater. Even our mall has banned smoking on it's property. Not sure why you think a cruise ship should be an exception. If you're not fond of the areas designated to your filthy habit, stay home with your cancer sticks.

I avoid the casino because it stinks from all the smokers killing themselves.

I wish they would ban smoking on cruises all together. Aside from the harmful effects for everyone...it smells disgusting and it makes you stink too...then you walk by people trying to enjoy food or drinks and it turns your damn stomach.

I'm a smoker and even I wouldn't want you smoking next to me or my child while I'm watching a movie. They have designated areas because not everyone wants to inhale smoke or wants you to smoke around their children (including me).

Boo hoo, my heart is bleeding for you. It is your God given right to subject everyone that has a brain and chooses not to slowly kill themselves and those around them with tobacco products to smoke where and whenever you want! Grow up and think of someone other than youself!

you must be a chain smoker

I am a former smoker and do understand the real addictive need to smoke. My sister, a more than 50 year smoker is, luckily, a 5 year clean lung cancer servivor, can attest to this. That being said, I would hope the designated smoking areas would be where they can enjoy their cruise without subjecting others to the fumes.

Socal60......😂😂😂😂😂

And here I was thinking they had too much space alloted to smoking.

Cannt stand the smell of cigarette smoke, hate it in my hair and clothes . That aside I really don't want to be the victim of a passive smoking disease. If you wish to die of a horrible smoking related disease by all means puff away. Please do not inflict it on others!

hey you mind if I smoke?.... not at all!......you mind if I fart? it's one of my habits... I tried to quit once but I gained a lot of weight!

This is hilarious because I was just telling my hubby that I hate the idea of any smoking on a cruise. On deck 5 where pictures are taken an trying to walk through to the stage all u do us inhale smoke. If they are allowing smoking in the casino they need a better exhaust fan or move any smoking on the very top to go in the clouds. All cruises need to make them non-smoking because as many ports they go the smokers can puff away. Chew gum or take meds while out to sea.

You had at least 2 other smoking areas. On Deck 3 starboard side out on the deck. The doors just to the right of guest services and the casino.

Who would consciously force a child to inhale cigarette smoke? Seriously?? You want to be able to blow cancer in the face of others (including children) at the dive in. . . WOW!!!

jbbinder    7 years ago

You were "not allowed to watch the dive in movies at night..." BS. You chose NOT to watch them because they are shown in a non-smoking area. No sympathy here. Carnival's smoking policies on their ships are available online. Im a former smoker who indulged that habit for 20+ years; I never imposed it on others. IMO you are fortunate the ship's even give you a smoking area.

don't continue. ex smoker, even if I still smoked I still wouldn't want some jerk thinking they can smoke wherever they want and no one else matters. They should make smoke free cruises.

I guess, stay home next time

sbox    7 years ago

Having been on the Freedom with my Wife who smokes, I don't, there were more than ample places to smoke.

exnasm68    7 years ago

You imply that you couldn't smoke at the dive in movies. Are you allowed to smoke in movie theaters at home? And, you do have access to all the same amenities as non-smokers...you just can't smoke at them. And as for Carnival's smoking policy, theirs is probably the most liberal of all the cruise lines sailing out of the U.S.

i dont smoke. i dont want to suck on your smoke you have every right to kill yourself you have no right to kill me.

We were on the Freedom for 2 weeks (April 1st -15th. Never had the issues of not being able to watch a dive in movie. If you are talking about shortage of lounge chairs to watch the movie. You have to plan ahead and get there a little earlier before the movie starts. Music playing on third, fifth and lido deck. Something going on all the time. Had a wonderful time on the Freedom.
