Review summary

Great family holiday.  Staff were excellent.  Marija and her team, Andrea and Alvin, from the POSH restaurant were amazing.  They went out of their way to ensure we had more than we could have wished for.  Top rating for them.  The excursions we booked were fantastic.  We did Chichen Itza from Progresso, although the bus ride to the site was long it was worth it.  Juan, Jose and Julian were the best tour guides ever, very knowledgeable. We did the 12 metre Americas cup sailing from Cozumel which was fun and exhilarating and not for the feint hearted in choppy waters.  The only downside was my 18 year old didn't have that much to do on board.  He was too old for the teen lounge and too young for anything else.  Perhaps Carnival should review the age limit in the teen lounge or provide other sources of entertainment for the 18-21year olds.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Marija and her team in the POSH restaurant were amazing. The rest of the food was of a very high standard and was very fresh.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Traveled with an 18 year old who did not get as much from these. He was too old for the teens and too young for everything else. Carnival should look into this.

Entertainment

Loved the 80's night and the towel folding. Am now trying out the different animals at home.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Traveled with a 16 year old and 18 year old. 16 year old had plenty to do but my 18 year old was bored. He was too old for the teen lounge and too young for everything else. Would not really recommend this if your kids are around these ages.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
So want to give a huge thanks to Marija and her team, Andrea and Alvin in the POSH restaurant.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Overall not too bad but you can tell it's a busy ship. The cabin was worn with a few stains and the shower was not so well cleaned when we boarded but they are the only points.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was a little be tired with a torn bed skirt and stained sofa cushion. The shower was not so clean when we boarded as the showerhead was still covered in soap scum. I did manage to clean it off very easily. Overall not too bad for a well used ship.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Living in Houston means I love to get away to Galveston. I would definitely recommend the beaches, the Bishop's Palace and old town. If you want some water fun the head to Schlitterbahn. If it's something more sedate I would recommend Moody Gardens.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

Go to Chichen Itza. It's an early start and a long drive but so worth it.

Cozumel, Mexico
