This is my favorite itinerary of all. The islands are beautiful.

Embarkation

We got there at our assigned boarding time and had no waiting at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the dining room once. The food was very good. We needed out of there in 45 minutes and thanks to a great waiter we stayed on time. We mostly ate on the Lido deck and the food there was fine. The ship bars kept running out of Diet Coke (for a bourbon mixed drink) and they didn't know that Coke Zero and Caffeine Free Diet Coke were possible substitutions. Kudos to the casino bar (3rd bar after the 2 pool bars I went to looking for soda), a waitress there gave me the above options and saw to it that I got my drink quickly. The bars were without Diet Coke on at least 2 non consecutive days. This ship had, by far, the worst bar service of my 25 cruises. They were slow, untrained and frankly not very nice. Disappointing when you consider cruise ships usually make a lot of money off drinks.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I spend time on the Serenity Deck which was small, but a great place to hang out. The comedy club and piano bar were our choice for nightly activities and were very good. Again, I have to point out the bar service was all but non existent on the Serenity Deck, was just OK at the Comedy Club. We had an awesome waitress at the Piano Bar. Not that we drink heavily. We usually only have several diet cokes and 2 Buffalo Trace doubles nightly. I didn't care to have to bar hop to find a bar with the drinks in stock or a bar tender willing to sell it to us.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We didn't go to the stage shows. We enjoyed the comedy shows and the piano bar.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward, Victoria, was just great. The piano bar waitress went above and beyond for us. The staff, as a whole, was great and helped to make this a wonderful cruise. The bar staff was the only area lacking Fun Ship qualities.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This is an older and smaller ship. The vibe of the ship was retro. After sailing on the largest ships, it was nice to enjoy the intimacy of a smaller ship. If you're looking for tons of stuff to do, this ship doesn't have all the options of the huge ships. It does have the best itinerary and is at the very lower end of the price point. Best bang for your buck cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is a smaller ship so the cabins are smaller. We opted for a Junior Suite to make up some of the square footage. The cabin was clean and well kept. We also opted for the twice daily service to help keep it that way. Victoria went out of her way to make my 25th cruise as nice as it could be.

Ship tip

Enjoy your cruise. This is an older and smaller ship that has a nice laid back feel.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We spent 2 days in San Juan pre cruise and enjoyed mingling with the locals.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

I normally don't like this port. It is over commercialized and the tourist spots seem to be crowded. So we did a catamaran excursion to St Johns. The crew was great and so was the sailing.

Bridgetown, Barbados

I always have liked Barbados. This time, we did the Atlantis Submarine. I scuba dive and still thought this was a great way to see the under sea.

Castries, St. Lucia

This is great little island. We did a private catamaran excursion here. With only 18 people and a fun crew, this was a fantastic 6 hour cruise with a great lunch served. This was the highlight of my entire cruise.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
We did the train excursion here. The train was an enjoyable way to see the country side. The ocean views and beaches seen from the train were beautiful.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
We wanted to do a day pass at a hotel there. But when we got to the DIVA Resort, we found that we didn't have to buy the pass. We only had to rent chairs and an umbrella ($15). The resort staff provided excellent beach side bar and food service and our waitress was outstanding.

Disembarkation

Being Platinum doesn't mean a whole lot, but it does get us off the boat and thru customs super fast. The Carnival staff was very pleasant to the end of our cruise.
