Review summary

The shower in our stateroom flooded on day one right after we checked in. Plumber number one was sent to fix the problem. The next day the flooding progressed. Water submerged the bathroom floor it began to flood onto the carpeted area outside the bathroom door. The water reeked of sewage.  I frantically called guest services (911). Plumber number two was sent to fix the problem. This plumber was angry, didn’t speak English very well but I could tell by his actions and his body language it was a BIG problem. He plunged the drains but water kept coming. Then he snaked drains and removed the wall paneling outside our stateroom exposing the pipes. My daughter and I stood there in disbelief.  We had just picked up dinner, brought it back to the room and put our night clothes on before this nightmare began. Now our room had been taken over by this angry plumber, a housekeeper w/ carpet shampooer, guest service and a sea of onlookers passing by trying to catch a glimpse of the action. The room wasn’t big enough for us all! I was told the carpet would be cleaned, a deodorizer put down to mask the smell, and an industrial blower would need to be placed in the room for a few hours to dry the carpet. I asked if we could be moved and initially I was told no! They gave me the option to leave the room for a few hours while they fixed the plumbing and cleaned the carpet but we were already tired and we had on night clothes. Guest services continued to play on my ignorance until I asked if one of them would be willing to take our place in stateroom U167 and we would gladly take their stateroom for the night. I was told, no again! At that point I was hungry, tired, frustrated and confused! Before I knew it my emotions took over and tears ran freely. I think I realized there was nothing I could do. Two hours later and by the grace of God stateroom R155 became available. We packed up our entire room and moved forward only to find more problems in that room.  At this point, I was too tired to complain. It only fell on deaf ears anyway. The staff played on my ignorance and treated poorly after our room flooded so please, please do your homework before you cruise with Carnival. The last time I cruised with them I was a teen. This time I brought my teen and she was very disappointed.

Don't judge all Carnival ships by this experience. I'm sure it was a horrible experience snd I would have lost it as well, but they're not all the same. I was on the Breeze and for the first time ever I was seasick. Our room was at the front if the ship. My sister went and explained to them how sick I was and asked if we could move to mid-ship and they moved us. The cabin steward had our new room ready for us in no time and I was fine the rest of the cruise. Carnival service has been outstanding on all of my cruises with them.

It sounds like an awful experience. My family is fairly new to cruising, but we always book on the newer ships in the fleet. Our fist was with Norwegian, the last two with Carnival. We haven;t personally had or heard of any such problems on these ships.

Carnival should have been considerate enough to move them to a new room before doing all of that work anyway , then she wouldn't be there to take pictures how inconvenient! what if her or her daughter had to use the bathroom? they were already in their night clothes they shouldn't have to go searching on the ship to do that. If the ship was booked that's understandable but apparently it wasn't because they ended up moving them they could have done that from the beginning.

I was on the fascination june 20th. We met a family on the lido deck who experienced the exact same maintenance issue on the boat. I do not remember his room number though. He said that they moved him immediately, refunded 2 days, and gave him some on board credit. He still did not seem happy. Hopefully, you can get compensated for what happened like they did.

Wow. I just returned from a trip on the Fascination and I found the crew to be friendly and more than willing to go above and beyond. Of course non of my issues are even close to being what your issues were. I'm sorry to hear that you had a terrible experience and hope your next cruise on whichever line you choose is better.

So sorry you had such a rough time. What ship were you on? We have done the Magic 3 times, the Triumph 1 time and only 1 time. We loved the Magic. We sail on The Freedom in April, Magic in Sept 2016 and Fascination in April 2017
