Review summary

Be aware! When they advertise the price of the cruise, it is not the price you will end up paying. There are so many hidden fees that our family would have had more fun staying at a resort and spending the same amount of money on activities.

I signed my 13 year old son up for the 12-14 year old group and he was told he was not supposed to be in there the first day. So he was never able to enjoy any of the activities.

Unless you do an excursion at this port, it is not worth going into "town" to shop.

Hidden fees oh that must mean kids, you gotta buy stuff you don't normally buy, hidden fee, new clothes, kids are the hidden fee, don't get me wrong I carry kids everywhere I go, and the hidden fees add up, could that be what you're talking about? The cruise we take we expected more than we paid, no Hidden Fees here.

So because you didn't inform yourself correctly, you blame the cruise?

You need to do your Homework, like any trip.

We have done 4 Cruises with our 5th coming up in April. Never had a hidden fee (for some reason we got a $27/person credit on our last cruise). The only thing added to out sail & sign account was the cost for playing BINGO, a couple of T-Shirts & a Build-a-stuffy our 5 year old made. We don't drink, but even if we did we wouldn't have been surprised by being charged for it.

You can put a max on each card.

I can't help by hidden fees she means her kids added stuff to her account. Maybe she is talking about pictures. But you didn't have to buy them?? So I'm confused what she means when she says "hidden fees"

As a family of 5, we researched and had a blast on very few extras. It can be done! Our one splurge, aside from an air hockey tournament, was upping the gratuity a little, since all the staff were helpful and fun to be around.

I cruise by myself most of the time and I have never had any surprise charges only surprise credits. And even by myself, paying for two basically, I can't go on a regular beach vacation for that price. Guess some people just want to complain.

There are no hidden fees. Everything is spelled out on the Carnival website. if you can't find it there, you can ask questions on the forum or call Carnival directly. Just like with anything else, you have to do your research! I have cruised with Carnival 4 times and each time, the only surprises I have had were credits to my account for fare or fee DECREASES!

We booked though carnival directly. I think of called them 5 times in the last days. To ask questions adjust and change our room. They are always upfront with pricing. But it does help if you research to know what to ask for. Like prepaid gratuities.

Did you book through a reputable cruise site or travel agency?

reehrhar    8 years ago

Obviously you didn't do your research.

wildbill24    8 years ago

never had any "hidden" fees on any of our cruises. always knew exactly what we were going to pay.

Well someone didn't do their homework when researching taking a cruise. But then again I researched the heck out of it before we decided to take a cruise.
