very disappointed by SharonR6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The food was the worst of any cruise we've been on. Chateau Briand was just a scrappy piece of meat; portions small. Staff were rude when I reported loss of prescription glasses, one of which was left at a table and we returned quickly as it was being cleared. Other was left in stateroom. I would lock up all valuables, including cameras etc. if going on a Carnival cruise, Shows were so-so. Missed last one as change in time not adequately announce, if at all, and was very late on last night. There was no place to go for night entertainment without presence of heavy smoking.

You have to get over the cheesiness, because that's the only way to have fun.

A delightful surprise by DaveB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

We were looking for a sun-break and have never considered ourselves cruise people. We got this killer deal through Alaska Airlines and decided to give it a try. We were struck by the tight organization of all the operations on this ship. We rarely waited in line, every concern was anticipated and addressed, the staff were friendly and skilled. The food was incredible and endless. It was a great balance of relaxation and fun activities. They do a great job of matching people for who sits at your dinner table. We were pleased with the range of people on-board. All ages were well represented, as well as all nationalities! The entertainment ranged from okay to great. The Vegas styles shows demonstrated talent by the performers, but the shows themselves lacked interest. The hypnotist was stunning! The biggest negative is that they clearly almost give the cruises away so they can make their money on all the other things they try to sell you on the cruise. Some are more tolerable than others. The shore excursions, for instance, are not pushed overly hard, and ours was excellent. It does get a bit old having someone asking you to buy a drink every 5 minutes, 24/7. But the endless quest to sell us pictures of ourselves, wanting us to open a Carnival Visa card, encouraging us to call home on our cell phones from on-board (expensive), those were over the edge. In the net, I can tolerate the constant selling with that great price.

"A great vacation" by SusanaS

The ship is in pretty good shape and we learnt that during the month of February it will go through a complete refurbishement. We had a great time and it is the kind of vacation that you don't have to worry about anything.

Unexpectedly Impressed by DaveB16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

We had only cruised on Carnival once before about 10 years ago (not the Elation), and it was adequate. But, we wanted to give them another chance since they leave from San Diego, our nearest port. We're so glad we did! The food was excellent, the service in the dining rooms was excellent and personal, the cabin was clean and consistently well attended, the music throughout the ship was professional and we were overjoyed! The nightly sushi was fresh and prepared to order...what a treat! Because it was the Christmas season., the ship was decorated beautifully. There were photographers throughout the cruise than we have ever seen on any of our other cruising excursions, so we had plenty of shots to choose from to take our memories home. We loved our cruise and look forward to the next one!

Nice Cruise by ChrisB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

It was a good cruise despite the cool weather. The food was good and the service was excellent. Our only real complaint was that the ship is difficult to find your way around. There should have been "directional" signs on each level pointing the way to the two main dining rooms. I can't begin to tell you how many times we got lost trying to find our way! We heard many other passengers complain of the same problem. There were 650 children on this cruise and they were not annoying at all. We were pleased about that. The other thing that was a little bothersome was the constant photographers trying to take your picture all the time. Even when we said "NO", they snapped away. At $19.95 per photo it was a bit pricey. We didn't buy any.

We sailed to Cabos San Lucas on december 8th-13th on Carnival Elation. Our trip was wanderfull. The ship was clean and the peaple working there were very helpfull and cheerfull. We have three kids- 8,7 and 3 years old and they absolutely love the cmp carnival and the councelors, which made our trip as parent much easier. We got to enjoy the shows and dancing.I would definitley recomend that cruise.

Relaxed vacation by Gabriella

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Overall experience was quite good considering this was first time we were taking the cruise. Booking through or embarkation process was very smooth. Would have liked to see vegetarian meal options on the cruise or activities for the folks who are not part of a big group. But apart from that, I would say other aspects met our expectations.

This was an overall good value for the money. For about 70 bucks a day, you get great service, 24 hours of free food, excellent view of the ocean, and transportation to your ports of choice!

Budget Cruise by DougW

Of the eleven cruises we have been on this was by far the worst. Food was only average with fair selection and poor quality. Mattresses were very uncomfortable.
