Review summary

We are going on another carnival cruise this summer and it is on a newer ship. if that one is better then we will continue to use carnival. otherwise we will go back to Disney.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Nice and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was excellent and the drinks were good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
That is the one thing this ship does not have is things to do. Mainly for the kids. in comparison to the newer ships. Example is one pool and two hot tubs for 2500 people.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment onboard was great. The entertainment director did an amazing job providing something all the time.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Kids club staff was great. It was just limited on space and time. The hours for the clubs was choppy. The kids liked the clubs while they were open.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was great.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was very clean just very old and in need of a major overhaul. That ship just cant compete with days ships and the price is basically the same.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was clean and the staff was great. Just the room was small in comparison to newer ships.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

5 out of 5
we love Charleston. someone may want to do something about the burned out and dilapidated building next to the ship.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
no running water and the fire on the island obviously had an impact. we were told otherwise when we called to inquire about the island.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Nassau is Nassau. It is very poor and full of beggars. Unless you do an excursion then there is no reason to explore.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
nice and easy.

Re: that burnt up building near the Charleston dock.... Carnival wanted to tear it down and rebuild the port with a shiny new one that could even port more than one ship. Unfortunately, the Charleston Historical Society refused the offer. As is, the old Charlestonians hate having one cruise ship docked there, even though it brings in a ton of tourist dollars! Charleston even forbids Carnival from sounding their ship's horn until while in port, even if it's the middle of the afternoon because the sound "bothers" the locals. Go figure.
