Review summary

This was our first cruise and we were a bit nervous. While we loved many things about the ship (food, casino, steam room, club, drinks) there were several things that made us rethink the trip. The urine smell in the room was awful and would never go away. Losing air condition twice was also frustrating. The worst part was the Princess Cays Port. We did not get to enjoy this port at all and feel as though we really missed out and did not get our money's worth. We felt as though Princess Cays travel (in the small boat) was very unsafe. Also, please consider more organization for the Princess Cays port and disembarkation.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was fairly easy with quick lines. It was a little confusing at first as the lines were not seperated and people were cutting in front of others as they did not know where to stand.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean, however, there was a lot of maintenance going on throughout the ship. The crew were tearing up carpet on out hall the the smell, noise, and clutter was a distraction.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The cabin was as expected, however, we lost air condition twice during the trip making the room very stuffy and we had to leave the room. There was also a constant urine smell in our bathroom the entire trip that made it hard for us to stay in the cabin.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

5 out of 5
No excursion but we love Charleston.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Very touristy. It felt like the only thing to do besides the pool was shop.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
We loved Grand Turk!

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

1 out of 5
The entire Princess Cays port was a disaster. The water appeared very unsafe for smaller boat travel. The wait to even get on a smaller boat to get to the island was 2 or more hours. They stopped the boats going to the island for 2and a half hours. By the time we got there the lunch was over and we had to turn around and come right back to make it to the ship on time. Also, the boat ride was very scary. A crew member was thrown off the boat and was injured! Another boat broke down on the way back to the ship. This was a terrible experience and we feel as though we did not get to enjoy the port. We would like our money refunded for this port.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Very, very disorganized!!! We were given instructions to get a blue tag if we wanted our bags checked. When we went to get the tags they were all gone. Guest services did give a tag (#20). We were told that numbers will be called when it was time to disembark. Numbers were never called and people were very confused on when to go and where to line up!! There was no organization during disembarkation. We asked several crew members on what to do and they just told us to listen for our number. However, no numbers were ever called.
