Review summary

Our cruise was a lot of fun and we would recommend the Ecstasy to anyone looking for good value and excellent service ! The sea Day brunches were delicious as was the evening dinners! Guy's burgers were a good daytime fill in if you didn't eat at the buffet for lunch.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Paid my parking in Charleston ahead of time so got checked in right away- Faster to the fun is the BEST way to go. We were directed right to the garage at our check in time- walked across the street (didn't want to wait and load on shuttle) and boarded!! It was easy!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We read all those negative reviews about food on the Carnival Ecstasy and couldn't believe how wrong they were!! We had anytime dining and sat right away/we ordered drinks, had different appatizers every night, always delicious. Dinners were appealing, hot and we got several to share. We never missed a dessert!! Went to buffet a couple times - fresh carving stations made it worth while!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed all the ship had to offer- from sunning at the pool, cooling off at the slide, played bingo, trivia.. shopped the store and bought pics! Plenty to do..

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were fun and entertaining..we're not talking about Tony award winners/performers here but we knew to expect that and had fun with it!! DJ's at deck during day played fun stuff! Fun ship staff were always energetic

Children's Programs

No children with us- it's September and they should be in school!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our wait staff was phenomenal!! Igusti, Puja and 'little' Igusti were very attentive, friendly and always smiled!! Again, you get what you give.. we were having a great time and the staff knew that and made it more enjoyable!! The hostesses always knew us when we arrived and Gary the cruise director always took time and chatted with us! We had a first time cruiser with us and he's hooked now, equally impressed with the staff and quality of service we received.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout of the ship was easy to maneuver. We took elevator and waited only a minute or two- if it was taking longer we just took the stairs. There were always staff cleaning, polishing, washing windows, etc. Again all the negative comments we saw about the old ship and how rundown it looked was not apparent to us- unless you are looking in corners or at metal outside- it was very clean and palatable

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Comfortable, cleaned twice a day, always had towels and ice. Roomy enough for the time we spent in there (which wasn't a lot-why sit in a room-you're on a vacation!!!) and whenever we called housekeeping or room service it was quick and with a smile

Ship tip

Enjoy it for what it is- a great vacation for the price.. you can go on bigger, more opulent ships with more exotic ports of call.. but you will be paying a lot more and you miss out on that smaller venue, personal feel you get on this ship! We will definitely go on this ship again!!

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

5 out of 5
Easy on and off- did not stay in Charleston

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Nassau is what it is.. we took the Bahamian bar hop excursion. It was fun- our tour guide Marcus was very lively and kept everyone excited and engaged- I wouldn't say there was much else (other than real touristy stuff) to do in Nassau unless you go to Atlantis or another resort for the day.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
I was a bit disappointed in the fact that the water was very rocky to get in and out of. The clamshell set ups on the beach in front of all the other chairs took away from the view .. food was ok but lots of flies. I liked half moon cay much more.

Disembarkation

Very smooth with FTTF! Customs took 1 minute and we were on our way home.

Tips: have fun, relax, you don't have to fill up every hour with activities. Don't overpack, download the Carnival app (HUB).

My understanding is parking $20 a day

I loved the Ecstasy. Great first starter cruise. I call it the small but mighty ship. The alchemy bar was amazing.

Thank You! I check my invoice and the port taxes and fees were included.

YIcruise72    7 years ago

*correction: approximately $12-$15/day

The port taxes and fees should have already been factored in cruise price. Check your receipt. Are you asking about parking fees? If so, it varies by ports. Apparently $-15/day

My husband and I are leaving this Saturday for our 10 year Anniversary. First time cruisers! Can anyone give me an idea of how much the port taxes and fees are?
