Review summary

Had the time of our lives! Already in the process of booking our next cruise! 😁🛳 We wish there were more ship options and destinations to choose leaving from Charleston SC because that is our closest port. Next cruise we'll probably choose somewhere in FL as a port.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was our first cruise and Carnival made the entire embarkation process a breeze! It was simple and fast. From the time we parked our car it only took about 25 minutes to get thru the entire process and onto the boat!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was fantastic! We are in the dining room every night. We had 'your time dining' which I would recommend to anyone. Instead of having to go at a specific time we were able to go anytime from 5:15-9:30. Every meal we had was superb and the staff was beyond great!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The only feature of the ship I did not like was the pool. It was far too small to accommodate the amount of people on the boat. Other than that we enjoyed everything else! The Day At Sea was fun...we spent the day on deck 11 taking the sun and enjoying the view. The ecstasy is a smaller ship...but PERFECT for first time cruisers!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We saw the comedy show and it was great! The musicians were good as were the DJs! There was always good music being played. Anthony the cruise director did a great job of keeping everyone informed as to what activities were going on!

Children's Programs

Did not have kids with us!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I cannot stress enough how fantastic the staff was in EVERY aspect of the ship. They were all very helpful, polite, smiling, and just an overall joy to be around. I work in customer service so I appreciate being treated so great. Our room steward Gede was the best! He had our room spotless at all times, fresh sheets and towels, and just about anything else we needed!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Ecstasy is an older ship, built in 91 I believe...but the staff did an exceptional job keeping it pristine at ALL times! It being my first cruise, it's hard for me to comment on the layout since it's the only one I've seen! It was great for me though!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very clean and surprisingly roomy! The TV could have been a little bigger but other than that it was perfect! The view was amazing!

Ship tip

Make sure you get up at least one day to see the sunrise! 🌅 If you enjoy drinking..be sure to check out the Alchemy Bar. The entire menu is AMAZING!!

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

5 out of 5
I love Charleston! We were only leaving/returning from here though...didn't spend much time.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Nassau was amazing! I did a bit of research before we got there and decided not to book an excursion. I had read about Cabbage beach and had my heart set on seeing it. When we got off the boat, first we walked a couple miles down to Junkanoo Beach just to check it out. I don't recommend spending your time here. Not the nicest! Then we hailed a cab and went to Cabbage Beach. Absolutely amazing! The cab ride was about 14 bucks round trip. The locals are a bit pushy trying to sell stuff but that is typical. We rented a couple chairs and an umbrella and spent the day here. Had an absolute blast! It was paradise! Atlantis was just down the beach and you could have walked up, but I really had no desire.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

3 out of 5
Freeport was not my favorite by any means. The staff there was fantastic, however the weather that day was quite over cast. We did book an excursion for this port because I heard it was best to do that. We took a bus to Taino Beach where they had chairs, umbrellas, water activities, shops, etc. The beach was not nearly as nice, but that could have had a lot to do with the bad weather. It was about 50.00 per person and then I paid an extra 20 when I got there to have open bar. All in all it was ok..nothing like Nassau though!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Off the ship in 10 minutes! No lines no waiting!

we are just 3 and half hours from Charleston , that's why we always leave from there.

It's also nice to go a little further south, it really does open up more the Caribbean. Just a thought

We cruised on the victory out of Miami, went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman.... I would do this trip again. Jamaica is absolutely beautiful

Florida will open a lot more opportunities for you. That said, being close to ANY departure port is a positive to many of us.
