Review summary

Every year for Christmas, our family tradition is to go somewhere other than our homes. For the past three years, we have chosen to do cruises. Overall, we had a fantastic time and loved being able to spend Christmas with Carnival.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The different selections of food made it very easy to find something for my picky eaters. However, the main dining room did not have a lot of different selections. The exotic menu was great for trying something different, but the option to only choose chicken and steak was a burnout. We did attend the steak house twice, and the food was excellent. It did stink that Guy's and the Blue Iguana closed so early. The ice cream machine availability was AMAZING! Lastly, the staff at the bars was rude to the people who were not buying alcohol.

Onboard Activities

Spa, trivia, bingo and the shows were amazing!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
These guys were amazing and very talented.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
I am very disappointed in the child care options and hours. We were expecting to have at least a few more hours available. We were unable to even use this program. Last year, we cruised with Royal Caribbean, which in turn definitely has childcare availability to fit the needs of the parents.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff at the bars were rude to the people who were not buying alcohol. Everyone else was very helpful and friendly. Tyler, the cruise director, was amazing. He was very involved with the ship.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was a little overcrowded for its size and slightly outdated. The gathering place, where the buffet area was located, had a weird smell. It reminded me of old, wet carpet. The state rooms needed more 120V outlet plugs. We only had one; thank goodness I brought a power strip with me.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was as expected. Leslie was amazing in keeping our room clean and stocked.

Ship tip

Bring Dramamine and extra plugs

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
That is the easiest and most convenient port of call.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
I loved the port, but it was very small for the number of ships that were there. Very crowed and busy.

Belize City, Belize

3 out of 5
We were disappointed that our excursion got cancelled due to the weather. If customer service had communicated with the adventure desk, we could have chosen something else. However, this was not relayed to us until the Adventure Rep was back in late that day, when we were leaving Belize. So, no excursion was done in Belize because of the miscommunication between desks.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
XCarte was downright the best excursion we have done so far!!! 10 out of 10!!!

Disembarkation

Fast and painless.
