Review summary

It was overall a positive 1st-time cruise experience for myself, my husband, and our kids. Unfortunately, 2 of us and some of our extended family members caught Covid while on the cruise so I would definitely hold off on taking a cruise during the busy summer months on a very crowded Carnival cruise ship, if I take another cruise.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We attended many of the shows and a couple of shopping events. The pools were very small and too crowded.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were very good and the director, Simon London, was a great leader in all things entertainment. He was spirited, energetic, fun, and funny!

Children's Programs

Did not participate in any of the children's programs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
In addition to Simon London, the rest of the staff was amazing. Our room/service attendant, Durma, was absolutely wonderful. We loved greeting him every time we saw him and conversing with him. Durma also always made sure our room was perfectly cleaned and organized. We also enjoyed getting to know the restaurant staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean and well-maintained. The cleaning staff was very diligent and constantly cleaning the common areas. The ship's design and rooms were definitely outdated.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was very clean from what we could tell, but room was very small and tight even with 2 adults and 2 young children (11 & 8 years old). The beds were comfortable and decently sized.

Ship tip

Be comfortable with big crowds and long lines on the ship if cruising during summer months.

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We trekked to the Mayan ruins and it was educational.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We did the Best of Belize tour and really enjoyed our tour guide, Rosalee. She was very informative and knowledgeable about the country. We loved seeing parts of the country and hearing about how the locals live.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We did the Xcaret Park excursion and really enjoyed the park. However, the port itself was crowded and chaotic b/c there were so many cruise ships docked there.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The disembarkation process was fairly smooth and efficient.
