Review summary

We chose this cruise out of Galveston, within a reasonable drive from Austin. Also, the itinerary to Key West and Bahamas was enticing as we'd never been to those ports. Was a very easy boarding process and we had a great balcony cabin mid ship. Overall the trip was great with wonderful service and the food never disappoints on Carnival. I was concerned with the ship's age, however it was well maintained and they were constantly cleaning. Our cabin steward was outstanding in refreshing our cabin each day! We enjoy Alchemy Bar, however it seems to have become so popular that it had long waits for our orders and was located, it seems, as an afterthought and placed in the corner of the busy Ocean Plaza. Now for the bad part and reason I rated a 4 in lieu of a 5. From the moment we arrived in our cabin, we noticed we did not have WiFi connection. I took screen shots and complained three times to Guest Services but nothing was done to correct during our cruise. We could never connect in our cabin and always needed to go into a public area to be able to use our phones. Very Annoying! We placed a reservation for dinner for two, received confirmation and then when we were summoned our table was ready the HUB app had changed to only one person. Another time, our reservation was accepted and then totally dropped off and I had to go to the dining to reestablish our reservation. Carnival did correct this with us by giving a full refund since IT was unable to remedy our connectivity. Overall, I do enjoy and am loyal to Carnival, however this was very annoying not being able to check email, read the news or post on FB in the comfort of our cabin. I have written to Carnival regarding this issue and I'm hoping they correct it for us and others to follow.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent service and good selection of foods to fit any diet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Participated daily and enjoyed trivias and especially Quest

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Fairly good music throughout at various venues with two outstanding musical shows in the theatre

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always, the staff is outstanding and wanting to provide us with all our needs

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout of the ship is typical for most of Carnival ships. For the age of the ship, it was very clean and constantly saw crew members doing a wipe down.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was well maintained and we were well taken care of with regard to cleaning. The only issue we had was not being able to connect to WiFi in our cabin or balcony which was very inconvenient for having coffee and reading the news on the balcony. However, Carnival did make it right with a refund of the cost of WiFi

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
First time and enjoyed Key West for the food and sites.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

1 out of 5
I don't understand why we stop at Freeport. All industrial and need to take taxi into town which has minimal attraction to us.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

Due to recent diagnosis of Basal Cell, we chose to stay out of the sun

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We did the distillery and Queen's Stairs. Very enjoyable day

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Galveston has to be the easiest and fasted port for disembarkation.
