Review summary

Non stop fun for all ages. Go with an open mind and you will enjoy yourself.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We showed up during our scheduled window. The Galveston cruise port employees did a great job of keeping the lines moving. They were well informed, patient and friendly. Make sure you have all passports/birth certificates and boarding passes out and ready. Also helps if you use the VeriFly app to expedite your process it. It prechecks vaccines and testing requirements (if they are still in place at the time of your cruise).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We enjoyed most of our meals in the main dining room. We did any time dining. It was really easy to check in through the Carnival Hub app when we were ready to dine; always under 10min wait. Loved SeaDay brunches. Highly recommend the steakhouse, we ate there two times. Take advantage of the first evening for great wine specials. Seafood shack was worth the extra money especially the peel n eat shrimp with garlic butter. Sushi was also great, we usually did it as a pre or post dinner snack.

Onboard Activities

Jacky Tang was the best cruise director! He was full of energy and knew how to keep the fun going. Kids loved the water slides. The pools were crowded, best to use them toward the end of the afternoon or for evening swims. Loved that there were a lot of hot tubs. I wish there was a Serenity pool not just hot tubs.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The magician “Tricky Ricky” was very entertaining and we enjoyed Courtney the comedian. The DJ played the same playlist every night at the club. It was super disappointing but we know how to have fun regardless. Mark in the piano bar was fun! The violin trio were on point.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was all pleasant. We were always greeted in passing. They used your name and really made you feel cared for. Noman was our room steward and he was sweet and attentive. The dining room staff went of their way. Even though we had different servers most of the time the service was friendly and consistent throughout. They even cut my son’s steak up for him, making him feel like a king. Special shout-out to Alchemy Bar’s Rodolfo and the rest of the team! They make the best drinks and know how to keep you laughing. Winder in serenity/club. Miguel/Jose/Maria at Blue Iguana.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Dream is well maintained especially for her age. I love the opulence. Saw the interior constantly being cleaned. The exterior windows have a lot of salt on them and some rust spots on the balconies. I am not the biggest fan of the overall layout in comparison to other ships but it is pretty easy to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Well maintained. Use under bed for storing your luggage. We had the adjoining room as well which added to our space. The balcony was a nice place to retreat to mid day and at the end of the night.

Ship tip

Pack your patience. You make or break your experience… choose fun!

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Native Tours…Bacalar (seven colors lagoon) was a relaxing day away from the chaos of the port. Water was refreshing and clear, much better than what I heard of the beaches in the area.

Belize City, Belize

Cave tubing with David at Cave Tubing R Us was the best! Be aware that it does take time to tender into Belize.

Galveston, Texas

Pleasure pier and Seawall area are cute and have family fun

Cozumel, Mexico

Mr. Sanchos was fun…lots to do. Go with the all inclusive and add on a massage.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
There was medical emergency which slowed the process down some. Plus some people going when they weren’t called. Self assist made for a pretty smooth and early disembarkation. Having passports made a huge difference, we breezed right off. The line for birth certificates had a crazy long wait.
