We were excited to be cruising with family again after almost 4 years. This was the same ship we’d been on last time. Lots of family time playing games and stuff.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was pretty easy and didn’t take as long as it often does. It was much easier since we had uploaded proof of Covid-19 tests and vaccinations on the VeriFly app as suggested by Carnival.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Only went to the dining room once. Service was fine there. We went mostly to the buffet. Just easier with long, busy days. And we didn’t want to dress up for two elegant nights.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Played miniature golf twice, and trivia a few times. Tried a ladies pamper party that was mostly a pitch for spa services. Waste of an hour.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Went to the comedy club a couple times and enjoyed the shows. We didn’t go to any other shows because they didn’t sound like ones we would enjoy. (Our group spanned 3 generations, so this affected our decisions)
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
No problems with staff, although they admitted they could use more. Coming out of the pandemic has to be challenging.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Areas were clean and well-maintained. Our cabin was on 2 slightly aft. You can’t walk forward from the aft stairs or elevators on 3 or 4 (one dining room is there). Sometimes we forgot and had to go up or down again before we could go forward. Kind of a pain.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The cabin itself was fine. The balcony was a cove and although we walked out a few times we never sat outside. It seemed to accumulate a lot of sea spray and felt salty even though they cleaned it twice in 6 days. We had a significant amount of noise at all hours from overhead; we were right underneath the galley.
This was frustrating, although mostly because people tried to get off before their numbers were called. We had to be out of our cabin by 8am. We had booked the latest transfer back to Houston (8am). We were in group 2 of 30, but didn’t make it off the ship until after 10:30. It seemed like most passengers opted to carry their luggage off, so they went first. Despite the valiant efforts of the crew to let them off in groups, it was a big mess.
Noted the same problem on the number of carry offs last week. Hope you learned to look at the areas around your potential cabin before booking, many Coves have that issue.
