Review summary

Wonderful, relaxing, fun way to spend a vacation. Felt right at home--away from home--as if we were there for longer than five days. Ready to go back and do it again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Treated like a VIP--smooth, easy, and quick. Totally worth the extra expense of a suite to have priority boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Wait staff was spectacular; dining room meals were delicious; casual food (breakfast, lunch) was not bad and offered lots of variety and convenience.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the casino, spa, and fine dining, but didn't partake of other activities. Was impressed that the different preferences of other cruisers did not impede upon our own enjoyment. Room for everyone, no matter what your taste in entertainment.

Entertainment

Didn't attend any shows or organized activities.

Children's Programs

Don't have children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top-notch service! Every staff member we had contact with more than once called us by name and made it a point to know our likes/dislikes. They bent over backwards to make sure all our needs were met.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great. The only down-side was that we were just beginning to really get the hang of the layout of the ship...when it was time to leave! A brief orientation or tour would have been really helpful.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the layout, immense storage space! We brought four very large bags and two smaller ones, and had tons of unused storage space. We were never bothered by next-door neighbors, above/below neighbors, or hallway noise, either. Very satisfied with the cabin.

Ship tip

Make it a point to learn the layout of the ship early in your stay. Certain elevators will only take you certain places, and sometimes you "can't get there from here". Took us a few days to learn the ropes.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
This was the starting/ending point of the cruise, not an excursion location. It was just a place to park the car.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
There isn't much there besides some touristy shops, but the excursion we took with The Native Choice was terrific. Enrique, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the tour, touching on geographics, culture, political and societal changes over time, etc. Very enjoyable.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
The Royal Swim with the Dolphins in Chankanaab was unbelievable! Lots of contact with the dolphins, not just a touch or two, followed by contact with manatees as well. Amazing experience, never to be forgotten.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Despite a delay entering port due to foggy weather conditions, the whole process was surprisingly smooth, easy, and relaxed. Again, priority treatment made the cost of a suite completely worthwhile.
