We hadn't sailed with Carnival since 1995 and they seemed to have changed for the positive since then. The ship was beautiful and the staff was beyond excellent in service. Whoever is doing their training has done a wonderful job, as it's obvious that all staff know their mission is to help those that are cruising and make us feel welcomed. The best service I have had from any company in a long time. We've cruised other lines lately but now are Carnival fans again. We will be back. Excellent value for the money too.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Loved that they offered specific times for check in. So much less hassle.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
All of the food on the trip, especially, the main dining room was fabulous. There were so many choices that were no additional cost. Our waiter, Alan, in the main dining room was unbelievably good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was so much to choose from that there was something for everyone. We went to so many fun activities. The lighting of the Christmas tree was very special. Everything exceeded out expectations.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The main stage shows were fabulous and we loved the comedy club. There seemed to be music everywhere... some live and some by DJ. So much entertainment. When our ship was delayed docking due to fog, the fun kept going between music, movies and more.
Children's Programs
We didn't have kids with us
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our main dining room waiter, Alan, knew everyone's name after the 1st night. His service was fabulous the entire time. He truly wanted us to be pleased with the food and service. Our room steward, Nanang, was also fabulous. He wanted to be sure we were comfortable and again, knew our names from Day 1. Knowing our names really made us feel special. We could tell and extra effort was really made with this.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
There were people cleaning up all the time after guests. Everything always seemed clean including the hallways, restaurants and other public areas. This is the 1st cruise where I didn't get sick, so I know they made an effort to really keep things clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
It can always be a little bigger, but it was actually quite comfortable. The closet size was excellent and lots of drawers and other storage areas. That was truly appreciated. Plenty of hangers and our cabin steward offered more if we needed them. Bed was comfortable which we appreciated.
Ship tip
Learn which floors go through the ship as soon as possible. That makes it easier to get around without getting into "dead ends".
We have been here many times, so we just went to a cooking class and returned to the ship. It is a comfortable port feeling quite Americanized and safe. People there are friendly and it's easy to get around.
Progreso itself looks terrible. Typically what you think about Mexico... poor and run down. Luckily, we went on a tour beyond Progreso, otherwise I would have had a horrible impression of this port. I don't want to go back here. Carnival should choose somewhere else to go on these short cruises.
This was the quickest disembarkation we ever had. Again, there were lots of people telling us where to go. Because we were late, this is probably why Customs seemed very short to get through. I liked being able to take off my own luggage as it was quicker.
