Our first cruise was overall a blast. There were things that our older teenagers enjoyed, things we could all do together or separately and that was great. I was shocked to learn that smoking was allowed inside, and I will specifically ask about that next time. The dance clubs were a lot of fun with a good mix of people. The Cheers drink package was a great deal considering it was a week of gluttony for us. I will plan on visiting the spa next time (we went and it was FANTASTIC, but it was an unplanned expense) and pre-purchase a package.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Getting on the ship was smooth and fast.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The main dining room food and service was EXCELLENT. If you find yourself being served by Artana and Wutty, count yourself lucky! They were awesome.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We did several rounds of trivia and that was a lot of fun. The comedy nights were pretty great as well. We were a little disappointed by the size of the onboard pools (very small and only suitable for small kids really) but everything else was a lot of fun.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We spent every night either singing at the piano bar or dancing in the club. Lots of fun.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We had so many wonderful servers - Artana and Wutty in the main dining room. Pande for our rooms, Prashant as a bartender. The list goes on. We didn't have any complaints on hospitality.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
We were shocked that the ship allowed smoking inside. To get to the main dining room we needed to go through the casino and it smelled AWFUL with the smoke. I would highly recommend that you either confine smoking to designated outdoor areas or make it very well known that the ship allows smoking on board. This was a major turnoff and I would have chosen a different ship had I known.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The beds were a little harder than I would have preferred and I would really have preferred to have a non-feather pillow option as those are terribly uncomfortable for me, but those are personal preference issues. The room overall was quite a good size for 2 people and had everything we needed. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of storage space for our clothes and luggage.
Ship tip
Bring a lanyard. This was the first cruise we had taken and we didn't realize we would need our key card on us at all times and that a lanyard is the best way to have it handy. They sell them on ship (of course) but it is an unnecessary expense if you know you should bring one.
This was an overall disappointment. The line to go into the city was over an hour long to get a taxi or bus and the port area stores and restaurants gouge visitors. Not great. I advise to just stay on the ship for this one.
We had fog delays coming in to port. I was very thankful we were able to stay in our staterooms that morning and didn't have to leave until we were ready to disembark. The process for disembarkment was a little chaotic and not well managed at the dock though.
As an FYI... There are no nonsmoking ships. Even Disney allows smoking at some of the bars and nightclubs. My asthma wishes they were all nonsmoking but unfortunately they're not. 😕
