Overall, I had a great time on my first cruise with Carnival. The ship staff were excellent, specialty dining was exquisite, and our spa staff were incredible. Definitely would do this again!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
From start to finish, the embarkation experience took 30 minutes, even though we arrived earlier than our designated embarkation time. From the luggage porters to security, the process was smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The main dining rooms served great dinner fare, especially for our large group of 26. I especially enjoyed the fruit soups (mango soup, strawberry soup, etc.); they were really refreshing for the weather.
We dined at the steakhouse and the chef's table as well, both of which served exquisite steak and creative fare. We also enjoyed the seafood and sushi restaurants.
The buffets were decent as well, especially for lunch. We got our fill of cake on board, for sure!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We stayed in a spa suite and used the thermal suites and Thalasso Pool daily. These were fine onboard activities.
We also used the gym frequently; the only thing missing is a chin up bar / machine.
Entertainment
Did not partake
Children's Programs
Did not travel with children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We received amazing service from the waiters, room stewards, and other ship personnel. We had Acer, German, Jefferson, and a few others who served us in the main dining room for brunch and dinner, and received top notch service.
Our room steward, Jonathan, was fantastic. He was always reachable and his team did a fantastic job keeping our living quarters clean.
We had great service from the towel and bartending folks on the Serenity deck, and from our pizza deliverers as well.
Our spa staff were incredible. They addressed our every need and were attentive to our needs for relaxation.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship's layout could be updated; it was confusing to get from one point to another from decks 3 through 5. The common areas were always kept clean, despite guests constantly leaving trash or food in the stairwells.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable and had plenty of room for us to relax and enjoy the view as we cruised. We also enjoyed the balcony daily, especially as we pulled into each port.
We stayed in New Orleans two nights prior to cruising and one night after. The city has amazing food and great history, and we enjoyed being outside at the festivals.
We did our own excursion at this port. The islanders were all friendly and the only thing we encountered was driving in the incorrect lane as we returned to our ship.
Did they put your large group together in the dining room? We have 20 in our group and I’m hoping we will be together at the same table or at tables near each other.
