Review summary

Great family cruise for the price. Would skip Jamaica and stay on the ship if we ever sail there again. Camp Ocean kid’s camp is a life saver and gave us adult time every day and evening. The kids loved the water slides and the adult only serenity deck is really nice. This was our second Carnival cruise and we are already looking to book another in a few months.

Embarkation

Carnival issued a notice the night before embarking delaying our boarding by 3 hours due to an issue on the ship. They only issued a $15/person credit for lunch costs. This was a big bummer because due to the late departure we didn’t get to see a lot of the Mississippi River before the sun went down. Cruising down the Mississippi is one the main reasons to book out of New Orleans.

All four of our kids (ages 2-9) loved Camp Ocean. Depending on their current mood they were a little hesitant to go at some points in time, but once there they did not want to leave.

Ship Quality

Overall the ship was very clean. The Lido deck could have used one more full time attendant to handle the busy crowds during lunch, dinner, and movie times.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had cabins 1217 and 1219 which are adjoining. This was awesome to have due to the fact that we have young kids. The family cabins also had 2 bathrooms each, one with a shower and one with a tub. Couldn’t have had a better experience other than maybe a very large suite.

Ship tip

Best Carnival ship to sail out of New Orleans right now.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay or Jamaica for that matter is not a place that we are interested in visiting ever again. The cruise port is horribly unorganized and if you have booked an excursion then get ready to be stressed out trying to get to the bus because the employees are very unprofessional. We booked a family experience to a plantation with a water park which was beautiful, but outside of that the country is horrid.

George Town, Grand Cayman

The entire island is resort quality. The water here is beautiful and breathtaking!
