We will only cruise with Carnival. If we have a bad experience of any kind it is few and far between. We loved being Premier Casino Club members and had a wonderful time losing all of our money. Okay, maybe that part wasn't so great, but all in all, you can rest assured that we will be back.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
This was our fourth cruise. This was the easiest and most seamless embarkation experience of all four different ports.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We loved all of these things. Wait staff is always incredibly pleasant and the food was quite good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We spent a lot of time in the casino and restaurants.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I do not claim to have loved every entertainer on this ship. However, I do not want to lower my rating of Carnival because I found one particular performers voice to be shrill. If I don't like a performer on a cruise, guess what? I don't have to listen to them. There are many other things to do at all times.
Children's Programs
We did not bring our children along this time
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Not a single staff member appeared to be in a bad mood for the full 7 days. I loved running into our steward, Ari as well. He left our room crisp and clean daily with adorable towel creatures.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
One of my favorite ships. I thought it was really nice and our particular steward did a great job keeping our room crisp
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
It pains me to leave a 2 star on this question, however, I felt if I didn't, it may never change. I am only 37 years old, but the bed in our cabin was horribly uncomfortable. It was very hard and unforgiving. I could not sleep beyond 6am even on sea days due to the pain in my back that would wake me up.
Ship tip
Walk carefully through the lido deck buffet areas and have as many soft serve ice cream cones as you can. They are to die for and you won't find ice cream like that again until your next Carnival Cruise.
We had a great time at this port. The shops are great. We chose to tour the Mayan ruins on our own without booking a guided excursion. We were not sorry that we did. It was a beautiful, peaceful walk.
We visited this port and took an excursion last year. It was so bad that we chose to avoid it altogether this year. Belize City is very depressing and a bit scary. This time, We took an excursion called Wonders of the Barrier Reef out to Rendezvous Caye Island. The boat ride from where the ships anchor was more than 45 mins of tediously slow travel on an uncomfortable catamaran. Even though the excursion specifically states "fast boat ride." I realize that this length of travel may be necessary, however, advertising it as a fast boat ride really sets them up for failure. The guided snorkeling tour on the reef was nice, but the island was tiny and any and all food or drink was extra. We would not do this excursion again.
We absolutely love every thing about Roatan. We love the port, the island, and the excursions. This time, we chose to rent our own car and drive the island to West Bay. We rented wave runners and had a blast. Then we relaxed in our cheap beach chairs and had some lunch before enjoying another scenic drive back to port.
