I won’t be sailing the Dream again. The service is severely lacking, the CD does the bare minimum. I shouldn’t have to work this hard to enjoy a vacation that cost me as much as this.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was excellent and well exicuted
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
MDR was the usual. So was the buffet. I did the Chefs table which was good.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There didn’t seem to be much planned. I just hung out on deck when the weather permitted.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The shows were great albeit over hyped. They are not Vegas quality though still entertaining.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Everything was a hassle. The room wasn’t serviced at all one day because we came back too early. Another day they waited until dinner service. There were previous customers items left in the room. Gross. You know that means it wasn’t properly cleaned. I found strange hair in the drain, after showering in that tub. We had to ask them to change the sheets even though they were obviously stained. There were red stains on my pillow the first night that my mom said must have been her lipstick. I hope to God she was right. That wasn’t changed until after I pulled the slip off myself and threw it on the floor. That was even after asking them to change the sheets.
Ship Quality

Everything was cleaned and pretty well maintained. It was surprisingly beat up looking to have just come out of dry dock, but was clean
Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was nice. The cleaning standards sub par
We had wheelchair assistance boarding and rented on to use on the trip. I turned it in the last night and asked about disembarkation assistance to be told that’s not not for people with no mobility. How many people with no mobility take cruises? Then he said, oh I see where you rented a chair, we will help you. I then mentioned we had FTTF, but were given zone 20. He said he would send up the right zone. He didn’t. The next morning I asked again about the zone number and was told he didn’t know anything about FTTF. I asked again after waiting a while to be told, no you have to wait for zone 20. We had to finish nd an outlet to plug her oxygen machine up. We didn’t want to be caught with it out of battery life. It lady’s about 4 hours and it had been almost 3. When they noticed that, suddenly they had extra chairs and could help us off. We didn’t get what we paid for.
Again I say I’m amazed at how someone’s bad experience is always their fault with people here. It’s never the company. It’s perfect. Nothing bad ever happens on ships.
I’ll give you this, maybe I enjoyed the Magic so much more is because I went in with low expectations after the Conquest. Oops. I expected the same great time on the Dream. My fault for thinking I should get what I paid for. I didn’t ask for a single extra thing. Not one. The assistance getting on and off is part of their jobs and the person helping got tipped well. Even after everything in me wanted to remove the stewards tip, I didn’t but he sure didn’t get any extra as I usually do.
But it’s cool. You Carnival stand can have at it. I’ll just be somewhere else spending my hard earned money. It’s true you have to pay for quality.
I dont care what the negative people may say about the Dream!! Myself, I think the ship is awesome, and provides great entertainment, varieties of delicious foods, great service, clean cabins, and a wonderful staff. That sad part of the Dream, is when it gets transferred to a different home port in May 2019. It will be most definately missed by alot of cruisers that uses the port of NOLA!!
A cruise and vacation is what you make of it been on the dream 2 times going again in March never have had any issues if we needed anything our room person was happy to help or get it for us that's why we always tip them get better service that way they work hard on those cruise ships
If being catered to is expecting to use a clean tub and have the sheets changed at least once, and the room tended to daily, then yes I need to be catered to, since I’m paying for it. If being catered to is expecting to get what you paid extra to get, then yes, I need to be catered to. I’m amazed at how when anyone has a bad experience, they are told they are wrong or are spoiled or are trolls.
Ive sailed on the Dream twice and have a third booked aboard the Dream this coming May. We really love this ship and I have a very difficult time believing that you had that bad of a cruise on the Dream. I think your story is a little more than what actually happened.
