Review summary

we enjoyed our time on the ship. one of the main attractions of this itinerary is that you spend more time at sea than in ports of call, so you can be as active (or inactive) as you want, at little or no cost.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
fast and simple; altho the lines were long, there was little real wait time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
we ate primarily in the buffet; the main dining service was prompt the one time we used it.

Sunset Bar

5 out of 5

this is a great small bar at the rear of the ship. Tapadana was a great bartender - he remembered me after only 1 visit.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
we spent most of our time hanging out or walking around the ship, so we didn't use many of the venues; but there are lots of options if you are into that sort of thing.

Entertainment

didn't go to any shows

Children's Programs

no kids

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
easy to find your way around, with floor maps at each elevator hub. only drawback - you can not go from the back to the front on the third deck because the galley is in the middle of the ship, so to access the main dining room you have to use either the 4th or 2nd deck and then go up or down one level.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
room was great - just the right size. plenty of room for clothes and accessories. the cabin steward, I Putu, was great. took extra good care of us.

Ship tip

be ready to walk. this is a BIG ship, and it's a long walk from the front to the back. if i have any complaints it is that they keep the inside temperature too cool, so that there is a great contrast when you go outside. if you walk a lot, like we did, you go in and out several times a day, and the temperature changes are really noticeable.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
it's new orleans. what else id there to say?

Montego Bay, Jamaica

5 out of 5
we went to the Croydon Plantation, originally developed to provide wood (pine trees) for on-island construction. but now it is also a major source of fresh fruits, like pineapples.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
we self-explored the turtle farm. a must-see. ride the local bus from the cruise terminal to the farm and back - $10 round trip for 2. i never knew green sea turtles got so big. they have over 300 turtles on-site.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
went to san gervasio mayan ruins. an interesting walk thru history.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
we self-assisted - we carried our bags off the ship ourselves. the worst part was waiting for our turn to disembark, and then we had to ride an elevator up from 4 to get down to 3. again, long lines snaking off the ship, but it kept moving, and took no time at all to clear customs.
