Review summary

Will not cruise with you all anymore!!!There should be some kind of compensation for the cancellation of the Belize port of call. Was very disappointed

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The cost to park was ridiculous!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
It appeared every situation was directed at making money off of the passengers.A 10 ounce can of soda costs 4 times what it does at a convenience store in New Orleans...ridiculous!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
One of a very few experiences I enjoyed!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Enjoyed the music

Children's Programs

Did not have any children with me

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
I allowed the housekeeping to to do a full makeup once all others were just towel refreshing and was charged $180 in gratuities.Ridiculous!Water(bottled) I feel should be complimentary!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Not any problems with cleanliness!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Kinda small for two beds. One full or queen size bed for a couple is all it appears to be able to accommodate comfortable!

Ship tip

I don't think I'm the one they should ask for advice when sailing with you all!!!

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana Did not visit port

Was the biggest disappointmentThe Belize port of call was cancelled which was the main experience Igor reason I took the cruise. The replacement port of call(Progresso) appeared to be a port that was under construction.Wasnt very much to see!!!

enululu, I was just going to mention being able to bring your own soda. It really is unfortunate that this poster had no clue about anything. Not that I did when I first cruised.... I just went with the flow and had a great time. All I thought was: ALL THIS FOR THAT LITTLE MONEY?? WOW!

Maybe cruising just isn't for you. Although I can't think of any vacation that you don't get overcharged for drinks. Every place you go is trying to make money off you. That is how they stay in business! I have never been anywhere on vacation that provided free botyhed of water. You could go try Disney world. It costs $ 100.00 just to get into each park. There are always crowds and the food and drinks are ridiculously over priced. But it makes for memorable vacations. Since my 1st cruise I would much rather be on a ship! Sorry you had such a bad time on your vacation.

Gratuities are not just for your room steward. They are a set amount (adjustable by you) for all the staff to include the dining room and workers behind the scenes. I always let them do a full make-up on my room twice a day. I’m also not messy. I prepay gratuities. If you booked with a travel agent, that should have been explained to you. If you want sodas on the ship, consider a soda package instead of buying by the can. I drink the included beverages and buy a couple of special drinks. And yes, parking costs. You can’t park free at the airport, either. There are alternative parking places. Rooms are small. Some are bigger than others. I was surprised on my first cruise, too, at the smallness. Be happy you were safe, housed, fed, didn’t get hurt or sick, and that you enjoyed the activities.

Been on many Carnival cruises and have never experienced anything like your talking about. The parking, not Carnivals fault, change of ports, not Carnivals fault, you not reading or understanding your cruise contract, also not Carnivals fault. If you felt that strongly about the gratuities, you could have had them removed from your account. Again, read and understand your cruise contract. I however have always paid them along with giving our room steward and dining room waiters cash in hand. Room size an issue??!! Hell, we're never in the room long enough to notice, too many things going on or nothing but watching the waves. Every room steward we have ever had have been impeccable. Seems like I can go into the room, sit on the bed to change shoes or whatever, walk to the elevator, realize I still have the wrong shoes, return to the room only to find the bed made and my first shoes put away. We're as guilty as anyone, we have pictures of every towel animal they'd made for us, could fill an album. FYI, embarkation and debarkation, there are thousands of people doing the very same thing as you, there's going to be congestion, get over it. Personally, with the service and everything Carnival has done for us, it hard to see them being criticized for people's own shortcomings.

I'm not sure when you cruised but I know Belieze was canceled due to weather/safety reasons. You can't fault Carnival for that. You may want to consider bottomless bubbles, you get unlimited sodas. Also, on your second Carnival cruise you get a complimentary bottle of water. Although the gratuities are explained in your contract if you are not happy with it you can have them removed at guest services. A little research and you would have known the parking costs but that's determined by the lot you use not Carnival. As for getting off the ship keep in mind you have 4K people getting off, processing through customs and trying to get their luggage. I don't know how that can be any less congested than it is.

Belize is no lost at all. If you want a larger room you need to pay more by getting a balcony or extended balcony room. You are allowed each person to take a 12 pk of soft drinks. If you have a balcony room you will have a small fridge.

Sounds like you failed to read your cruise contract that we have to agree to; you would have known about gratuities and info on cancelled ports. Almost all places charge for bottled water. Also, like others stated, drinks are always marked up in every hotel; the ship is a hotel on the water. Again, a ship! Therefore small accommodations. Almost everything is smaller in scale in comparison to any hotel on land.

Your right about the parking fees. I think your a "days at sea" cruiser based on the things you liked.

Shay1920    7 years ago

Sounds like a first time cruiser who had no idea of what they were getting? Drinks are marked up on all cruise lines. Rooms are small unless your have a balcony or above room. They are not the same size as a hotel. If a port is cancelled your port fees should have been refunded. Other than that, ports are normally cancelled due to safety reasons.

Was this your first cruise or first time with Carnival?

Summerholiday    7 years ago

Yep i would not be upset about missing belize thats for sure .. no matter what cruise lines they change you get nothing free .. and the cost of drinks is outrageous in most hotels and some major ports .. singapore is $9.00 a can in the hotel ... if u want it u pay or do without .. they don't care 🤷‍♀️

picalo    7 years ago

Why would you be disappointed about belize being cancelled? Like being upset Beirut got cancelled.

Belize is not a great port. I stay on board
