@Water227... sailed with Carnival for 20+ voyages and have never heard of the Plus package Please describe or provide www Carnival link to the program.

I bought the Plus Pkg, which includes gratuity, and they still charged me for gratuity daily. I had to request it to be removed. Strongly suggest watching your daily charges. Lots of mischarges. 😞

Yes, you all are correct. I responded to a Princess post or so I thought. Not for Carnival. Plus Pkgs are on Princess Cruises. Sorry for the mess-up. 😞

You just pay it upfront to help finalize your bill. Supposedly, the crew has no idea if you have or have not paid; but there's always been rumors that this information is shared by the crew and they have lists of the cheapskates.

water227, carnival doesn't have a plus package.

Prepaid gratuities cover tips for housekeeping and dining room staff members – waiters, room stewards, etc. They supplement the base salaries of the hotel services team members, some of whom you'll interact with on your cruise (like a waiter) and others you won't (like the crew members who wash your sheets). We always leave an additional cash tip for the room steward when we are leaving. Usually $1 to $3 per day depending on the service we received!

we tip the people on the deck who work in the heat, most of the prepaid tips go to the guy in the main diningroom

This is 1 of the great mysteries of cruising. If you don't prepay, the gratuities will still be charged to your on board account. Supposedly, a list is issued of cabins that rescind the auto-gratuities that the steward & MDR waiters can be addressed by their supervisor as to why the the passengers felt the need to request a refund of the charges.

I believe it shows on the screen everytime you use your sign and sail cards for drinks and in the shops with your photo ID. They definitely do know who pays and who doesn't.

I have read the cabin steward does get a list, but has not been confirmed by Carnival.
