Carnival Conquest

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 18, 2020

Ship: Carnival Conquest

Cabin type: Oceanview

Cabin number: 2335

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship is dated and needs maintenance. They need to dry dock the ship and do some work, the food was horrible. Nothing went together, it did not match. Jello for dessert, SMH.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food was terrible! It was like eating at a school cafeteria. Nothing went together, and the servers at the buffet would literally walk away from you and leave you waiting to be served. We never had anyone come up and ask us if we wanted a drink from the bar and the tables were not cleaned off well at all. The only great service we got was at the specialty coffee bar from Widana he was awesome. Also, the ship allowed people to go to the buffet bare footed. Disgusting.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Seriously? What activities? Not good at all. Everything is very worn, like going to a motel 6.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I gave it an okay only because that is exactly what it was okay. Think school talent show. The Cruise Director tried her best, Kyndall Fire is young and really tried hard, but needs work.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
It seemed like they were short staffed, we only saw our steward once and again the service at the bar and pool side sucked.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
She needs a good cleaning, dock her and fix her up. She is OLD! Rust all over the ship and tape holding up wall paper. So disappointed.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The light kept flickering the bed sagged...OLD!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We love St. Thomas and our favorite jewelry store.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
We visited old town, it was nice but there were a lot of homeless.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
We took the hummer tour, overrated and the island needs some work. It is beautiful.

It's so sad you didn't enjoy your cruise. Better luck next time

Terriesanchez makes a great point as usual! We enjoy carnival but true there is contrast between Celebrity, and the reviewer coming from Celebrity Edge I’d imagine there is a vast difference. Conquest has been one of our favorite ships, and itinerary, we’d love to cruise her again! We found the food to be good, but on Celebrity again afterward, the food was much better, but we paid much more so you have to weigh out all pros and cons. I find the comedy and martini bars better on Carnival.

You sure got up on the wrong side of the bed. We were on the Conquest in March and out of 10 cruises it was one of our favorites. We never used the buffet. Always had our dinners in the MDR every night and they were absolutely delicious. Also we had wonderful breakfasts there every morning. Did you bother to visit Deck 5 which is the Sunflower Atrium? Beautiful. Some areas are worn as on other ships, but not as bad as you make it. Our ports were fantastic. Didn’t care for the shows we saw but that’s not why we cruise. You must have made everyone around you miserable with all your complaining . We would definitely go on the Conquest again. Cruising is the best vacation ever! 🏝🛳

I think you brought your experience from Princess and Celebrityand expected it on Carnival. Don't get me wrong. I love Carnival but the experiences are totally different.

We were on the same cruise and we had no problems with the food or the staff. It is what you make it. Conquest is at least 14 yrs old and still in good shape.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. Maybe cruising isn’t for you. I am not aware of any servers in the buffet for food. The ship is less than 7 years old, so it isn’t ready for the scrap heap yet.
