Disappointing - I've never spent so much wasted time.

Pick a different cruise line. I know you want to be cost efficient but RUN!!! Not worth the money or headache.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Dinner was not up to par. We were always the last to leave the restaurant, had to constantly ask for water refill, ordering a bottle of wine always seemed to be an issue and there was not one dinner where someone was missing their food. There was always an extremely long line for the buffets.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We went to the comedy shows as well as a magic show. Both were good the biggest issue with the comedy show is they have it in a smaller lounge which makes it extremely hard to get a seat.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Our room steward was wonderful. We purchased the endless bubbles (Soft drinks) and the fact that you have to go to the bar to get a coke is ridiculous. Bartenders didn't want to waste their time. The excursion desk was always a wait and the staff was rude.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Common areas are always in need of cleaning. The layout of this particular ship is ridiculous. The main dining hall is on the back of the ship so the whole time you are eating it you are constantly feeling like you are swaying back and forth. Depending on your room location its hard to get to the restaurant because of the galley and the restaurant above. Most of the time you have to go up or down below the restaurant just to walk up one and then go down again.

Booked an excurision through carnival to Gibbs Cay (stingrays). This was set for 11:30am. My husband, my 10 year old daughter and my self attended. They shuttled a group of us to the beach/bar area where the boats were to pick us up at and told us to wait either at the bar or at the beach until our orange wrist bands were called. Not wanting to wait at the bar area with my 10 year we waited under the blue beach umbrellas as instructed. After waiting for 1 1/2 hour my husband asked the bar tender the status of our trip. She told him that our cruise ship does not leave until 4pm(even though our ship we had to be back on at 3:30pm) and to sit back down until we were called. While we waited my parents and in laws came to where we were at around 2:30pm. They had already finished their excursions and thought it was odd we weren't on ours yet. My husband asked a boat that had pulled up to the beach if we were next and he told my husband to walk roughly 1/2 mile down the beach to ask another boat that had the companys logo on it, so he did. When my husband walked back he said the captain of that boat said our excursion had been canceled earlier that day. At that point my husband told the other folks who were wearing orange wrist bands sitting around us that our excursion had been canceled. I went to talk to the bar "manager" and she didn't know what was going on. I asked to speak to another manager and as I am speaking to him an annoucement on a intercom that you can barely hear states "gibbs cay has been canceled". He said that it was announced earlier which was impossible as we didnt leave the designated area. He was extremely rude. At this point I had wasted our day at port, we were hungry, and we had to go back to the boat. Carnival excursion desk associates were even worse. The women said the excursion was canceled at 12:00pm that day so theres no way my family and I got on the shuttle. I explained to her that we left at 11:30am. They did refund my money for the excursion back but completely wasted not only 1 of my 4 port days but the time after having to continiously go back to the desk to wait in line to speak with them was ridiculous. My advice is spend the extra money and pick a different cruise line.

My husband and I were on the Conquest for two weeks - Sept 14 to 28th - on a back to back. We had a five-star vacation and can't wait for our next one! We love the Conquest Class ships and have sailed them all. We also love the Spirit Class. These wonderful ladies are on the salty high seas 24/7/365 with thousands of passengers. Of course they get a bit of rust and wear! We have never found the food less than very good (often excellent!), and had zero issues with our waiters. Remember, they have more than your table to serve! I am sorry about the excursion issues. Carnival does the best job of selecting vendors we have seen on all of the cruise lines, but cannot control what a vendor does on a particular day. They do fire vendors, though, so maybe no other group will have this happen. Just some opinions from a Carnival lover who also cruises other lines. Love that sea air!

You mentioned long lines at the buffet ? Did you think you were going to have your own private buffet ? Three thousand others have to eat also !.

Mabe you should have gone to the mid ship dinning room , just ask to be swamped .

We have over 60 cruises on carnival . We agree that a few ships need an over haul badly , but have been on the conquest at least half dozen times . The last time was in August , and will be back on in January . I never felt rocking in the dinning room , but I agree with the water ! I have had to get my own , waiters are very slow . If you can even find them . And the employees at guest services are the WORST ! I think most are brain dead . And all the shows are old .

Sounds like the experience at Grand Turk soured the whole Cruise.

We've been on the Carnival Conquest five times. It is our favorite Carnival ship and would go on it again tomorrow

I think this is a Fake Review. We were on the Conquest in March. One of our favorite ships. We didn't really care for the shows we saw but everything else was fabulous. One of the reasons I think it's a fake review was the review of the MDR. We ate there every night and at no time did we feel the ship swaying. Also, we never had to ask for water. There were 4 huge glass bottles filled with ice and water on the table. The food was absolutely delicious. The ship is older but well kept and beautiful decor. Make sure to visit Deck 5, the Sunflower Atrium. Beautiful

I wouldn’t write off Carnival based on one cruise on an older ship. A newer ship and booking excursions independently will usually be a better experience.
