It was worth the price. However nothing more. Cruising has changed with Carnival.

Review summary

Will not cruise Carnival again. Food was poor unless you go to specialty dining and offerings. $4 for small bowl of clam chowder Buffet offered Pea soup. I wonder how long it will be till you have to pay for Guy,s hamburgers.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went better than expected. Very smooth and organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Main dining was the main problem. Went to early dining. Waiters were under staffed they literally were rushing from table to table. It was far from a relaxing meal. In the rush food orders got mixed up or were incomplete. Menue selections were poor. Speggetti fried chicken are best left to VFW fund raisers. Buffet got worse as days went by. Leftovers seemed to be mixed together and given creative names. Gone are the days of 5 star dining without paying mucho $$ on top of cruise price

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Pools were clean. Nice H2O slide.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Stage shows were old. Saw them 2 years ago on same ship. Comedian was just plain Vulgar.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service and staff for most part were good. Very friendly, but they are understaffed , not their fault.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Cabin was good.asked for

Ship tip

If you are looking for good food and entertainment spend a little more and choose a different line!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

2 out of 5
Excursions were way overpriced. Shopping is not the same. Same overpriced junk in each store. Got tired of the less than honest talks about finding bargain and value.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

3 out of 5
Hurricane took its toll on sea life. Poor snorkel.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
City built up, clean but all shopping.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
My favorite! Great snorkeling right off ship. Nice beach!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very orderly.

I understand what she is saying. I had the exact issue this time around on the conquest and we were late dining. Could tell staff was trying but they just didn’t have the help. The food was very mediocre. Our large group was complaining the worst they have ever had on carnival. I just got off the legend in August and have to say that trip the food was much superior.

I don’t think we were on the same cruise.

Too many options to be hating the whole cruise menu. Some things I felt were meh but the husband mopped up on it. Each their own. 🍷

As somebody that has been cruising for over 20 years I will say that quality of food and service has gone down over the years. If you want better food and service I'd suggest Celebrity or HAL. You now need to go on premium brands for what you used to get on the regular lines. I still enjoy Carnival, I just know what to expect on a Carnival ship.

I generally like the food. It was better than Royal Caribbean and not that far behind Princess. I agree with your observation on the clam chowder and it's still a surprise that they let those Guys Burgers go for free.

I've been on 4 Carnival Cruises and always do the late dinner. Never had a problem. I could see a possible rush durring the early dinners as JJulie has explained. Sorry to hear of your bad experience. There is always the room service option.

From my experience, early seating is never relaxing. It's usually rushed and chaotic because they're on a strict schedule to get diners in and out as quick as possible in order to get ready for the second seating. I only do late dinner now.

What are you talking about? We have never had a bad food experience with Carnival. If you don't like something in the dining room, ask for something else. With all of the food options, why on earth (and where) would you pay for soup?

I’ve been on both RC and Carnival and the food is WAY better on Carnival. We never had any issues, and always found lots of deliciousness to satisfy us. RC reminded me of cafeteria food, or hospital food.
