Review summary
The staff on the ship are excellent. They try very hard to be accommodating and helpful whenever possible. We did have fun and my review may sound negative, but there were some problems that could steer me away from Carnival in the future.
Food in main dining was fair, the made to order burrito bar, sandwich shop, pizza place were all good too. Any area where the staff cooked for you was good except for Guy's Burger joint. It is greasy and overcooked. If you like McDonalds, you will probably like these burgers, but if you like a real hamburger, these are just gross.
The food on the buffet was standard warming tray food and borderline disgusting with exception of the desserts and salad bar.
The worst part of this cruise was the noise. Our cabin was not in a main area, middle of a dead end hallway, but you could hear clearly a normal conversation outside the door, let alone drunks at all hours of the night. I have been on over a dozen cruises and have never had a noisier room than this one 1033 on Panorama deck. Not near an elevator or main walkway. You could see light coming through the entire door frame when closed so the door seals were not up to par which was part of the problem. My older kids next door had the same issue with their door as well.
The main pool on the Lido deck was very noisy as well from 7am till 7:30 when they start the movies. It seems the volume level is set at 10 constantly. I do not mind loud music and it is supposed to be fun, but it would be nice if you could have a conversation without yelling because Good Morning America is blasting on the pool deck. Yea, I know I could go to the adult’s only pool at the back of the boat, but I am on a cruise to have fun and be social. This does not mean blasting news about terrorist attacks at 8am at volume 10 on the Lido deck. People have TV’s in their room if they want to see that garbage.
One last note, DO NOT buy alcohol on the boat to take home with you. Buy it in port and check it in instead. They have changed how they deliver alcohol to you when you leave. They do not deliver it to your stateroom the night before anymore; they make you wait in line on disembarkation morning to pick up your alcohol. (Talked to staff and apparently people would drink their alcohol on the last night and claim they never received it.) The line to pick up alcohol that you purchased on the boat was over 45 minutes. Yes, on the morning you leave the boat, 3000 passengers have to pick up their alcohol and wait in line, not have it delivered to your cabin like they used to do. The line to pick up alcohol that you purchased in port was 5 minutes. If you purchased on the boat it was 45. It was an absolutely absurd and disorganized mess. The last thing you want/need to be doing on the morning you are leaving your vacation is stand in a line for almost an hour.
