We were not impressed with the Carnival Conquest. The food areas were cramped and always had long lines for the buffets. The pools were small, with insufficient seating. The main pool was surrounded by stadium-style seating, was cramped, and very noisy. Definitely not a place to relax. The ship was clean, however, with staff always engaged in cleaning activities. Rooms (dining rooms, lounges, etc) were very cold, with patrons often forced to wear jeans, slacks, and/or jackets inside.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was ok, generally warm but not hot. It's difficult to feed 3000 people at a time, and do it well. The breakfast menu did not change and became quite boring by the end of the week. Buffets didn't change much, either. Main restaurants menus varied slightly from day to day.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
By day 2 we were bored to tears. My husband said he felt "trapped, like a caged animal." We had very little to do onboard during the day.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The housekeeping staff was very good - friendly, responsive.
Ship Quality

Rooms were small, not easy to get around, cramped, and quite dark.
Do NOT rent a vehicle (moped, scooter, car) in Mexico. FIrst, your car insurance does not cover Mexico. Second, if you are in an accident you can be thrown in jail until you pay for all damages. THird, Mexican police are fond of pulling over Americans and 'shaking them down" until the victim pays the cop. THis happened to a few American college students who didn't have sufficient cash to pay the bribe and thus were thrown in jail. THey then missed the ship, which left with their belongings (including passport). Who knows where they are now...
