Review summary

An unusual itinerary that isn't available often. It was nice to get to try all of the kid stuff on a Carnival Cruise ship without any kids onboard to slow things down.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
The English Coast Guard decided to do a surpise inspection of the ship the same day passenger's were boarding for the cruise. This dramatically delayed the scheduled times for everyone's embarkations.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The ship started to run out of some items on the last couple of days prior to getting into Miami. The menu in the main dining room was varied enough that sometimes we would choose to eat in one of the other restaurants or the main buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I tried the Bolt, the ropes course and the waterslides on one of the final sea days. All were great as there wasn't a line since there were less than 100 kids on board the ship. The equipment in the fitness center was new, but not everything was working.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Some shows were better than others. The comedians were all funny and changed throughout the cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was outstanding and always made sure you were happy.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Brand new ship, and we were the first passengers so everything was spotless. The layout was easy to learn and was logical

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Part of the closet design made no sense as I could not figure out what the designers intended the passengers to use the left-hand side of the closet closest to the main door. Otherwise, our cabin was very spacious, and we could store all of our luggage underneath our bed.

Ship tip

There are no self service laundrets on the ship, so plan accordingly on longer cruises.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
We stayed in the Premier Inn which was about 10 minutes away from the port. It was reasonably priced and had a small grocery store in the same building. There was also restaurants and a shopping center near by.

La Coruna, Spain

5 out of 5
Very walkable. Cabs were waiting right outside of the port's gate to take you wherever you wanted to go.

Vigo, Spain

5 out of 5
Very walkable. Lots of shopping in the downtown area.

Funchal, Madeira

5 out of 5
Long walk into town. Try the cable car up, and the basket back down for fun.

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands

5 out of 5
There is a long walk from the port into the downtown.

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Customs did not provide the ship enough agents to disembark the 5000 passengers that were onboard which caused a longer wait.
