I don't think I will ever cruise on Carnival again after our issues boarding.

Review summary

The check in experience ruined the cruise from the start and it was hard to enjoy knowing that we travelled all the way to the UK and spent a lot of money to initially be refused admittance on the cruise due to poor communication to the check in management not knowing the current Covid 19 regulations that was sent out to passengers.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Was stood in the rain and cold for over an hour then when we are at the desk are told that we had a choice to not get on or get off in Tenerife because our 6-year-old was not fully vaccinated. This is after Carnivale sent out email that vaccenation was no longer required.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
First cruise for the ship and crew so things improved as the cruise progressed. Lots of options were good to have.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Too many to list. The ship is great.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Lots to do. Lee the cruise director was awesome and a credit to the ship.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our daughter loved the camp. The staff were great.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Always attentive and quick to address our needs.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The design of the ship overall is great. It was brand new for our cruise so very clean with no real maintenance needed yet.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Again, the cabin was brand new, but the design is very narrow. The ocean sites on the Vista and Horizon are much better.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

3 out of 5
It rained the whole time so unfortunately we did not see much in Southampton.

La Coruna, Spain

3 out of 5

Funchal, Madeira

4 out of 5

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands

4 out of 5

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
We love Miami. Stayed a few extra days there and enjoyed good food and some shopping.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Very fast getting off the ship and collecting our luggage but after that we waited in line for over an hour to exist.

You need to know the requirements of each port in this day and age of Covid. I believe you are wrong in placing the blame on Carnival, but nobody wants to take responsibility

Make sure you read requirements pertaining to your specific sailing, not just the general umbrella emails that get sent out. Especially when going on a unique cruise such as this one.

When i booked my cabin they told me the vaccine isn’t mandatory unless i was leaving American territory

donshell6    1 year ago

I think it depends on where you are traveling if the vaccine is required

It’s always important to understand what is required to board the ship to prevent issues
