Review summary

Enjoyed ourselves, ports were special, entertainment superb, staff fantastic, ship activities plentiful, food was average to fair. I’d rather pay an $18 surcharge in the specialty restaurants Chibang & Cucina like Vista class and get a better meal! Main dining room was inconsistent. If you had a veteran waiter it was better, food served hot and on time, most of the time, food was not hot and took forever to finish. Once, 2.5 hours ( missed a show), 2 hours another time out of eating 5 times in main dining venue.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Not enough employees helping organize the lines. Passengers were patient while outside staff were clueless! A group of passengers stopped the line, so that we stayed under the awnings in the drenching rain. There was no one to help, so people were shouting at persons cutting in lines. When we told the staff member with the megaphone to get a staff member to hold up a sign to signify the end of the line she continued to announce the reason for our delayed embarkation instead of dealing with issues that were happening during the present time. Total incompetence.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Beautiful ship! Entertainment was top notch, cruise director, Lee was truly professional organized and entertaining (very dedicated team member). All cleaning attendants were dedicated and quick to help anyone, proficient and went above & beyond. Food was just, OK. Great variety, but quality was inconsistent. Salad greens the last few days iceberg only, then they had other greens. Shrimp was crisp and flavorful at times, then mushy at other times. Food was rarely served hot. Java Blue was by far the best, although lines from 8:15 on were extremely long for specialty coffees. Serving breakfast sandwiches was quick and efficient. The young lady behind that counter was superb!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools, hot tubs, trivia, games, mini-golf, fitness, spa, water slides, pickleball

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great entertainment high tech and beautiful

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Outstanding

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Celebration Central needs organization for shows, supervising where people can sit, without having to get aggressive, or waiting 1.5 hours before showtime. Lines would be good, lottery system for front seating by stage, etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Small, but plenty of storage and great location on the ship. Walked to many areas without problems.

Ship tip

Thermal spa was not as serene and relaxing as other Carnival ships, as well as, Havana deck not offering enough hot tubs, pools. Save your money and get another room on the ship. Culinary del Capitano
