Perfect for young families by Mearth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

As adults, we have sailed on Norweigian and Celebrity. With our daughter, we have sailed on Disney. This was by far the best cruise we have been on! We were so pleasantly surprised with the Breeze. I've had the impression that Carnival was just a discount boozy party boat, so we were leaning towards the Royal Carribbean Liberty of the Seas. The $3,000 difference was enough to sway us towards the Breeze, and we were not disappointed!

Our cabin was a decent size, simple and clean with a nice balcony. The 7th floor kept us high enough off the 5th floor veranda deck and gave us a nice view. Our room steward was great! The couch that converted to a bed was very hard at first, but after talking to Thana she informed us that it could be flipped to a soft side. I love that the beds had different options for different kinds of sleepers.

My 8 year old daughter kept exclaiming about how much she loved the boat. THere were so many activities on the Lido deck- slides, water park, pools that weren't over crowded, plenty of hot tubs, putt putt golf, basket ball, ping pong, ropes course. Nothing had an overly long line. There were fun activities throughout the day and we were never bored.

Because of our late seating and young family, we were not able to enjoy the big shows at night. We did go to the comics and magicians, though, and they were a great option!

Food in the big dining rooms were so-so. Maybe in part because I was so full from the delicious options in the other parts of the boat. We tried the Italian and Japanese specialty restaurants, which were great. The free options included hamburgers (so yummy!), tacos, pizza, Indian tandoor and the buffet. These were all great and I wished we could eat them even more!

Our ports of call were awesome as well. We had to skip Belize because of fog, but the staff were able to rearrange all of our other excursions, no problem. We were given $15 per person on board credit and a glass of wine for our troubles. To be honest, I didn't mind missing Belize and being on the boat an extra day because the boat was so fun.

I highly recommend the Cenote Hopping with Lunch at Cozumel. The best excursion I've ever done, hands down. It was nice to have such a knowledgeable guide, and to get away from the tourist areas.

Disappointed we lost a stop on the intinary by trinitywhite

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

due to heavy fog in Galveston we lost a day. The had to reschedule our itinerary and we did. It get to stop in Belize. We ended up with 3 full 'sea days' and only 2 stops. Pretty disappointing that no money was offered back due to missing a port.

Family Cruise 2016 by Cruiser75722358

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

My family really enjoyed our daily dinner experience. Our server, Saracer, was great and his dinner recommendations were always spot on! He and Bronko, another server, were most gracious and really made or dining experience very enjoyable. My grandson loved the idea of "going to eat a fancy meal and not getting a bill!" Unfortunately, I can't say the same about breakfast. the servers weren't as friendly and a couple of times we had to wait about 15 minutes before the server even approached our table. After that we went to the buffet for breakfast. Margarette, our cabin steward, was also very helpful and had everything we needed before we even asked for it. We enjoyed seeing the towel animals every day.

Not For Us by amatthew13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

As far as Carnival goes this boat was nicer than the other two times we gave them a shot.  That is to say the boat itself was "nicer".  For mandatory tipping and having paid for a suite the crew (other than wait staff) was just good enough.  Half of the evening shows were good the other half (especially the country show) were horrible.  I swear some big shot in NYC or MIA knew the boat would be made up of at least 50% from TX, OK, MS, AL and thought they would poke fun at good folks who like country.

I could never finish a meal in the dining room (not from size but quality), although the Indian, Burrito and Burger places on Lido were good.

When my son heard that we are forced to tip the kids club staff, he was horrified and mentioned they don't do anything other than stand at the entry and complain how loud or crazy it was in there.  He was in the "sharks" group, my daughters group had more structured activities.   Although, both kids enjoyed being in the clubs.

Rude patrons don't acknowledge your existence and save lido deck chairs even though they never come back for hours on end.  I would think the cruise line would prefer a customer who will pay for drinks sitting in chair rather than an empty chair.

Our cruise had some weather problems, but Carnival did a good job handling the rebooking of excursions and communicating what was going on.  On the other hand, there were some less than classy patrons who became very angry and rude to both other patrons and especially the Carnival staff.  In my experience on differing cruise lines this (other patrons lowering the overall experience of the cruise) has happened more on Carnival than other lines, just my experience though.

Family Christmas Cruise by donsuek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The Breeze is a great ship.  Was very impressed with the staff - they totally catered to kids.   The rooms were very nice - beds very comfortable and plenty of storage space to unpack.  We thought the food was mediocre except for Guy Fiari's Burger Bar which was excellent.  The buffet was set up very efficiently - very few lines.

Great trip despite the FOG-INDUCED DELAY by barberry11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was beautiful, the food was excellent, and the entertainment was top-notch.  We ended up spending more time on the ship than scheduled - we lost a port of call in Belize and added another day at sea - but it was okay because the ship had so much to offer.

The only area of improvement I would ask is for a bit more discretion with the late night comedy.  The last night (New Year's Eve) we went to the comedy show which was all very raunchy sexually oriented humor - a good 10 minutes devoted to sexual acts with dogs.  It ended with the comedian saying he had cancer and had to perform during this trip to take his mind off of his problems.  So - too much disgusting humor and too much personal information.

The other comedian on board, BTW, did not conduct himself that way even during his late night shows.  So, closer supervision of the material would be good.

Amazing by skl99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The cruise was amazing. The staff meet our every need and went above and beyond. The wheel on my luggage was broken and Carnival went out and purchased a brand new bag while I was on the cruise. The cruise director, Leigh, was awesome. We looked forward to seeing him and his jokes. The shows were spectacular. We cruised with 3 kids that were older and we all had a great time.

Excellent vacation. Everyone with young children should do a Christmass cruise! by jenknow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The Carnival Breeze is a very nice ship.  It is fantastic for children of all ages, as the upper deck is a kids' paradise.  I couldn't get my children away from the mini-golf, ropes course, water slides, or pools.

The food was much better than I had experienced on previous Carnival cruises (5+ years ago) and the service was fantastic all around.  What a great group of staff Carnival has assembled.  The team spirit was evident across the ship.

Exceptional Christmas Cruise by himarti58

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The entire experience was amazing. Checking was very smooth and the room was very clean and inviting. Excursion were plentiful and the ones we participated in, including a last minute add on, were well organized and delivered everything the pamphlet said. Of course, there is never a lack of places to eat. We really enjoyed the evening dinners at the formal restaurant (Blush). Interactions with other guests and waitstaff at the table extended the day's adventures, as stories were shared. Entertainment on board was also plentiful. There was always somewhere to dance, even with the little ones in tow. Then again, Camp Ocean offered many activities for the children at no cost or at very reasonable prices.

Cruise by lisagiebel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The cruise was very nice.  I have a few suggestions... the disembarking was a nightmare due to the disorganization.  We waited for hours to finally get off the boat then almost missed our flight. I realize the fog was a problem.  But if we could of stayed in our rooms until our floor was called would of been much better.  I saw elderly people trying to negotiate large bags down the stairs.  Very dangerous.  I know that you needed to clean our floor.  But you could have had all of your cleaners start at the top and work down cleaning together.

The food was great, the staff fantastic, boat clean, ports amazing.  Entertaining wonderful.  Thanks.

Not my favorite cruise line by valorier17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

We had a great time because no matter what, we always do on vacation.  But, with that being said, we won't sail with Carnival again.  It was just not as quality as we have experienced with Celebrity, RC, and even Princess.  The food was always cold and not great quality (except for Guys burger joint.  We loved them and usually ate there for our big meal for the day).  The entertainment was short of being enjoyable, but I will give them high marks for service.  Always friendly, helpful and cheerful.  Carnival has an amazing following and I appreciate that, it just isn't our first choice from here out.  The ports were very enjoyable.  Our bed in room was very comfortable and the room always clean.

Dining by melissalangleyny

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

Food very ordinary and long waits. Christmas brunch we waited over 2 hours from time of lining up to getting cold breakfast. Did not even bother lining up for Christmas dinner. Ended up buying food at the red frog for Christmas dinner. Food again ordinary. As was the food in the Italian restaurant we paid extra for.

Great ship, wonderful crew, loved the spa by sannjerome

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Destinations were wonderful. The Carnival Breeze was an amazing ship. Loved the spa and spa packages. Would do again. Five stars is definitely attainable but I felt the spa manager was less than exceptional.

My favorite part was the dining room meals, I would recommend that the Breeze have better communication with their passengers, especially when it comes to excursions.

Fun but unexpected charges by warranty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had a great time on the ship it's self. I was super disappointed that at the end I was billed an extra 300 instead of 150 for charges that I was told when I booked the cruise would be included. The customer service was not very helpful at all in resolving my issues. For this being my first cruise to say the least I am disappointed.

My least favorite cruise line. by alishab21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Key West, FL and Nassau, Bahamas are beautiful ports and full of things to do.  The port at Freeport, Bahamas stills to be moved or renovated.  I have cruised with NCL, Royal Caribbean and now Carnival.  Carnival is my least favorite but the ship did have good food.

My first cruise. by Cruiser39555255

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My favorite part of the cruise was the entertainment. The shows were very professional and fun. The variety was very appealing. The food was very delicious... so many choices for lunch.  Dinner was exceptional. The service throughout was very professional. The Staterooms were cleaned and maintained beyond expectation.  I am very happy to have had this memorable experience.
