Down and Dirty by Garyinhou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

1st time cruiser, I had a really brilliant review I was perhaps a 3rd of the way through writing, with tons of neat little comments and notes.  Then it disappeared and said "hey, dude, you need to activate your account first."  So now I'm going down and dirty and canning the prose.

Waited too late to book parking so missed on on Galveston Park N Cruise which was highly recommended.  Went to Lighthouse parking, they were fine, no issues.

Embarkation was a snap due to priority status afforded by booking a suite (we booked a suite as we traveled with our Special Needs/Down Syndrome child and figured we might need extra room.)  RM was ready when we went up at 2pm and dropped off our carry on's (after having a couple fruity drinks with umbrellas on Deck 3/Atrium bar.  Excellent.

Mustered on Deck 4 Sapphire Dining Rm.  Easy Breezy.

Sail away for us rookies was an awesome event.  Getting drink at Blue Iquana or Red Frogs on Deck 10 was no issue.  Excellent drinks, fast service. May be a novice at cruising, but not at getting drinks.  Over next few days, I timed the waiters that would come around on Deck 11, every time we ordered, we had our drinks back in 10-14 minutes every time.

Had room service 1st night in order to just chill, get some rest.  Excellent chicken tenders, Firecracker (fried) shrimp, and a Reuben. Yes indeed.

Had continental breakfast for starters 5 out of 7 days, so they'd bring coffee, yogurt, croissants, bagels, cream cheese and some fruit or melon.  Croissants were light, flaky, bagels were just right and not heavy as paper weights.

Sea Day Brunch in Blush isn't to be missed.  Steak and Eggs, Smoked Salmon, Cheddar Cheesy grits.. yes indeed...  Also ordered hash browns and rec'd 2 little round deep fried versions, whatever (we didn't let them go to waste)

Guys Burgers are really all that.  Never had to wait (but didn't go at the super peak of rush hour either).  Of course, they cook like a 100 at a time.. Condiments were always full for us.

We only had short waits at the pizza joint to (in fact, most times, we just cruised by and grabbed a few plates of cheese and or pepperoni.  Super thin crust.  Nice.

I ate at Bonsai twice, would likely skip next go round.

Saw a few long lines at buffets but wow, what choices.  All the folks talking about lack of choices and blah blah blah.. believe them at your own peril.

Ate 3 times in Sapphire MDR, excellent service, tasty food, if you really like something (like the fried oysters which were out of this world) better order a bunch of it, as they are apparently a for profit business.

Folks are sure right about the casino being smoky, but that didn't stop me from spending time there.  It's easier to get drinks in the casino by going to the bar, unless you can make a connection with a waiter/waitress.. A few times, one of the guys from our MDR team was hustling drinks in the casino, Marco, he got me drinks in a pretty good hurry.

We really enjoyed some of the DJ work, the Violin Trio, and even the hokey Country Duo.  We skipped shows.

The suite, 7279 was very nice with plenty of room, our Cabin Steward, Carlos, took care of us very well.

We were right by the elevators and never heard much.  Elevators got busy at various crunch times.

There were 2 times we needed to go to Customer Service.  I noticed some long lines a few times, so I had this idea, I wouldn't get in the long lines, I would keep my eye our for shorter ones.  This brilliant plan worked.  Excellent customer service on each occasion.

We never encountered a single crew member who wasn't outgoing, friendly, and in full Customer Service mode.

Carnival would be well served to enforce a few rules here and there, judging by the full body tatted up no shirt wearing dude who was sitting at the Casino bar at prime time around 7PM one night.  Yes, I got that sweet boys picture for proof.

If you've read a few comments about sewage smell here and there, yes, it's a thing.  Basically it is venting issues that arise in the plumbing world (sewage gas has to go somewhere, and sometimes not where it is supposed to). I imagine the number one maintenance issue on the ship is plumbing, usually you walked through an area and hopefully passed through quickly.   Interestingly, when the smell was present in a hallway or area, I did not hear people whining and moaning about it, guess I was lucky.  The maintenance guys are fairly prompt too.  Like when I accidentally flushed a wash cloth down the toilet, they showed up quick to avert whatever disaster I was close to causing.

The ship was rocking and rolling much of the time, fortunately, we kind of liked it.  Rougher seas, some high winds, plus those folks keep their foot on the pedal pretty good.

We did Nachi Cocum in Cozumel and it was very nice.  We did Little French Key in Roatan, and the reviews are true.  Go snorkeling.  (Skipped excursions in Belize)

If we didn't have priority embark/disembark, we definitely would have done Faster to the Fun.  No question.

Also, please note, I did in fact meet.. a very special... Diamond Guy!  You should have seen the glowing aura around him.

Booking our next cruise soon, again on the breeze.

First time on Carnival by Omcindy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my fourth cruise and the first one on Carnival. Overall it was a good experience. We ate in the Saphire room (early seating) and while the food was mostly good ( except the grilled chicken) it never seemed to be hot enough. The staff was very friendly though. This was the first cruise I used the spa treatments and was upset at the pressure applied to buy products.

We did an excursion on Cozumel at a beach/park ... can't remember long name starting with a C. They had a sea lion show and Aztec replicas. Lunch was provided...but we took one look at the buffet and went and ate at the Blue Lagoon... paid $20 for an awesome buffet. I would suggest Carnival switch to that for their lunch... would be worth paying more money.

Overall it was a pleasant experience, but I enjoyed other cruise lines more.

I loved the Breeze! Tons of hot tubs. The Red Frog was our favorite hang out. Met some fun people at dinner and had fun playing trivia and the Quest. Such a fun ship!

Glad it's over. Never again. by Datt2016

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

We checked in at our designated time and right from the start the man helping us was already short and snappy. No smiles or hello greeting. Just want to get it over with. Was told our room was ready..........well....no it was not.  Call stateroom steward and was told it will be ready at 5:30pm as the ship departure was delayed. We didn't sail after 6pm. So we decide to unpack after the room was ready. Came back after 5:30pm and room still not ready. Call steward again and this time he is snappy too. No apologies. Just more excuses. Talked down to my wife so i had to take over and be firm with him. Was told it will be ready by 6:30pm. Well......the first night, the shower and sink was clogged. They got it fixed first thing in the morning.  Then the hairdryer and tv remote went out.

Oh.....do not waste your time with the spa. They will give you the run around and bully you to spend $$$$ and if you are smart and firm, they will hate you cos they know they cannot milked any $$$$ out of you. They are a bunch of leeches working there.

We loved the Breeze and cannot wait to go back in August! My older sons met friends in the teen clubs that they still talk to often. My husband and I enjoyed the quietness of the serenity deck. Such a great staff on the Breeze when we went in 2016

Best of the Fleet! by CowboyCraig

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have been on many cruises and this was the best yet.  The Carnival Breeze is definitely our favorite ship and it has all the bell and whistles to keep you entertained.  Roatan, Belize, Cozumel were our stops and all three were amazing.  Roatan is our favorite port.  We loved this cruise so much that we immediately booked again for 2017.  The staff, the food, the interior, and so much more -- all top notch.  Will be cruising on Carnival again.

We loved the ship! It didn't have quite the same party vibe that the Magic had the year before but we had a great time. The casino bartenders were the best!

Very good time by harp5150

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First off, don't be too quick to judge your wait staff. I did. I did not like them the first night. The head waiter was an older Indonesian man. He was very hard to understand, and seemed like he almost barked at the others. But by the end of the cruise, I understood one thing. I was his guest, and he would do anything within his power to make sure I left full and satisfied. Our room steward was a great guy, and also made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, the ship is beautiful and there was always plenty to do. In fact, two of the fly on entertainers did not make the ship, but they changed things up, and threw plenty of entertainment at us. My 5 year old daughter loved Camp Ocean, and she loved the water park. It was a great time. The one big gripe I have, is our stateroom was directly below the galley. So there was lots of beating, banging, dropping and dragging sounds 24 hours a day.

Prettiest of all Carnival ships! by SandInMyShoes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Breeze is beautifully decorated.  Even the buffet area is broken into nicely laid out smaller sections with a decor that reminds you or a tropical cafe.

Cucina Del Capitano is an excellent specialty restaurant at only $15/person.  A real bargain considering the amazing quality of food, the small and intimate setting, and the impeccable staff and chefs!

We had a Cove balcony because we love being close to the water.  This is always a great choice for us, but this time we seemed to be in a part that was under a noisy galley area.  Our room was 2374.  Excellent location and amazing room steward, Alfred, but we were woken with loud banging every morning between 3:30 and 4:30am.

The Indian food, Tandoor, on back of ship by back pool is amazing.  Also, Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana, and the bit hidden Fat Jimmy's BBQ (deck 5 midship) are excellent.

We tried the extra charge room service menu one day; most items $5.  The Philly Cheesesteak "meat" was unrecognizable and tasted terrible.  My husband's pizza was good though.  The cookies in the Coffee Bar on deck 5 are $1.75 and amazing.  They are soft and taste home made one batch at a time.  Not like the hard mass-produced cookies on the buffet.

This ship's decor is very Caribbean and puts you in a vacation mood from the time you set foot onboard.  The staff is excellent and the food is good quality.  Galveston is a nice port too because you aren't surrounded by just ugly shipping container vessels.  One block over is the historic downtown which is very nice to spend time in before or after your cruise and their are plenty of nice places to eat on the water close to the ship as well as museums.

We absolutely LOVED the steel drum music played in the atrium.  Now that's a Caribbean Vacation!

We sailed to the Bahamas... by julzml1976

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Breeze

We sailed to the Bahamas Aug 14th to 21st of 2016. Mike the CD was crazy hilarious and could make a boring game of trivia anything but boring. Loved him! Our room stewards and dinning room wait staff were absolutely amazing. The food was really good too and way better then I had expected based on my previous cruise on the Triumph. Our cabin had plenty of storage space and moving room. Embarking and disembarking went very smoothly, and getting on and off while in port was just as easy. We enjoyed cruising the Breeze so much that we are sailing on it again in Oct 2017 and can hardly wait to make more priceless memories thanks to Carnival and the Breeze!
