This ship has its charm. But if you are looking for a luxury experience, Carnival Breeze is far from that. The food and meal service is fantastic, and the shows on Ovation Theater are really entertaining. But don't expect real problem resolution from the service desk and don't expect 21st century technology anywhere on the ship other than your room key. If you want luxury, look to the other, more expensive cruise lines.
Embarkation

Embarkation was actually pretty smooth. Kuddos to Carnival for that.

Onboard Activities

There were things to do. But I got bored from time to time.
Entertainment

The Production Crew was impressive. They perform all of the stage shows. Carnival doesn't bring in performers for individual shows.
Service and Staff

The main dining table servers were amazing, very personable. However, Carnival fails miserably in the location of the service desk and in the quality of service given there. This desk is right next to the ship's centrum, where there is often very loud live music. And if that's not enough to make it impossible to hear the person at the service desk, that person is also wearing a mask. On the rare occasion that you can actually hear them, they can't help you with any error Carnival made with your account pre-embarkation. My purchases before the cruise had been taken from my cabin mate's obc rather than mine. When we boarded, she had almost none of her obc available to use. They couldn't fix it because it happened off the ship. Boo, Carnival. You're the same company on the ship as you are off the ship. Let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
Ship Quality

Failing grade here.
1. The service desk needs to be in a quiet place, or at least not next to a loud venue.
2. The cove balconies are a great idea, except when they are closed off for rough weather. On our cruise, our cove balcony was closed for 1/2 the cruise. At that time, we could not see through the door because of the steel door that blocked it, and the chairs and table were stacked and tied up in front of the window. We paid for a balcony and got an obstructed ocean view.
When the balcony was finally opened, we got locked out on it because when we closed the door, the cheap sliding lock slid shut on us. We had to get another passenger on another balcony to find an employee to come to our room and let us in. To keep it from happening again, he simply put tape on the lock. Of course, with tape on the lock, there was no way to lock the door when we were not in the room.
3. The centrum lanterns look really nice from deck 3. But look at them as you pass by them on an elevator. It looks like vomit stains all over them. And that's not recent. I saw that a year ago...and again this year.
Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was fairly clean. But getting locked out on the balcony by a faulty lock really takes away from everything else. The beds are too hard for my liking. My cabin mate found them to be acceptable.
Ship tip
Brace yourself for some discomfort. This is not a luxury cruise ship.
Don't even bother getting off the ship. It's a 4 mile bus ride to a really dirty town where a woman waits to sell you toilet paper outside the toilets for $5.
We chose self assist so we could disembark at our leisure. But we were told the morning of that self assist was disembarking by muster station and checked bags by luggage tag numbers. We were told not to go to deck 3 until our muster station was called. Unfortunately, since so many people ignored that instruction, I was stuck waiting by the elevator on deck 2 for my muster station to be called. I was ready to disembark by 8 AM but wasn't allowed off the ship to roughly 10AM...as a self assist. Pure chaos.
Progresso... $5 for Bathroom and TP?... It use to be only .25 cents
The charge is basically a usage fee. I think you can take your own TP if you remember to and just tip accordingly afterwards. Sadly, that money is their livelyhood.
Let's look at the name....Carnival. That in itself tells me that it's fun, family oriented, and affordable. So to a person like me, it's a 5 🌟 experience for the money I'm spending. When we want luxury, we don't go to a Carnival. But it looks like there were good parts to your cruise as well.
As far as the OBC, there is literally a note online in regard to how it is used and to consult with others in your stateroom prior to use before boarding the ship. The alert is is highlighted inside a large blue box. This is not Carnival’s fault, but yours. You were able to benefit from the OBC, rather than complain to Carnival, why not just reimburse your friend? What did you expect them to do, give more OBC? No, Carnival would not be considered a luxury cruise line, but most cruisers appreciate what they offer for the value. Probably best your next cruise be on another line. Best wishes and happy sails 🛳🏝
Fair enough. But who would go on a Carnival Cruise thinking it was a luxury experience? Not even princess, celebrity, or Holland America are even considered luxury lines. It's pretty clear that carnival dropped all pretenses of a "luxury" experience years ago.
