Review summary

So, overall, the cruise was good. I know Carnival caters to families a lot, but this time was a little overboard. They really need to put a limit on how many children make up the passenger count and require parents to monitor the kids a little more. It's also getting a little annoying to try to go to a club or bad only to find out that they just Want gay people there at that particular time. Why do they have to do this? I don't see them do it this for straight people. They can intermix groups

Embarkation

I still prefer faster to the fun. Unfortunately this was never available when I looked and when it magically appeared it was already sold out. The degradation process went by smoothly, though. The Port Canaveral cruise port is definitely a downgrade compared to Ft Lauderdale or Miami though.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I've never been disappointed Carnival when it comes to food. The chef's table was a fantastic experience too

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
They need to keep children out of the hot tub whirlpools. For one thing, it's not medically safe for young children to be in them. How about expanding the serenity area and having it open longer maybe until 1 or 2 am

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The 88 keys and flick shows were absolutely terrible. They could have done better with a 4th grade dance recital and drunk karaoke swingers. The comedians weren't a lot better, kind of dull and boring. The bright spots were the Black Diamonds Violin trio, excellent music. The 80s music trivia was fun too. Here's a thought, bring some decent modern rock bands on board, ditch the country noise and took music.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great as always

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It's a very nice ship. I do think the Serenity area needs to be expanded. It might help too if you would get rid of smoking in the casino. That made the deck 5 the dirtiest and smelliest place on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is a unique room set up. I think there were only 4 like it on the ship. It had basically a double length balcony with 2 smaller windows. It was very nice

Ship tip

Watch the note time activities at some of the bars, there are some special nights that seem to crown on a straight, normal, heterosexual people being there.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Definitely not Ft Lauderdale or Miami

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
I just really wish the cruise ports were a little more open with less influence from the cruiseline

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
More local influence at the port

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
You didn't have to go through a big tourist trap shop to get out to see the local area

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
This port might have been better if it wasn't so close to industrial shipping sites and was closed to Cockburn town

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Slow, congested . I was at the pickup site for luggage tags and when they rolled the board out there weren't any early times available

Not a bad review, I have some of the same concerns. It would be hard to regulate the kids situation. I have to say that gay people having their own event has kind of confused me. Sounds like reverse discrimination.
