Review summary

If you don’t want to take control of your vacation and be on someone else’s schedule then go on a cruise. It’s just not for me. I’m going to go to Puerto Rico for a week and between airfare, hotel and car rental I’ll spend about $1000 less. And do what I want to do. Explore the place. Took about 2 hours to explore the ship.

4 out of 5
A lot to do but crowded

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff did a great job. They need a better employer though.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship looked old and worn out in places.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It served its purpose. Clean and comfortable.

Ship tip

Get a cabin on deck 12. Quite up there and not congested.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Great place to enjoy the beach. Just don’t spoil the place for the locals.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Not my favorite place.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
Beautiful place. They locals need to fix the place up a bit. They’re dumping trash on the side of the road and not rebuilding like Puerto Rico has.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Best place I visited. Wonderful people and beautiful city. Plan on going back for a week. Already booked a trip.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Great beach and beautiful water.

Disembarkation

Faster to the fun made it better.

It sounds like you were on an older, smaller ship. The bigger o rd have more to do and/or more places just to be alone. For me, cruising is the best way to travel.

Sounds like cruising isn’t for you. Most people love it, but it’s not for everyone. I’ve never felt like I was on a schedule or was required to do anything other than attend the muster drill and depart at a specific time. We choose anytime dining and eat when we are hungry or go to the buffet. If a show looks interesting, we will go, but they usually have 2 performances, so one of the times will work for most people. We book excursions independently and just meet them on the dock. I’ve always found cruising to be the best value of any vacations we have taken, but we don’t spend money on an extras such as specialty dining, alcohol, gambling, shopping, etc.
