Review summary

The Breeze 14 day cruise was a fabulous way to spend 2 weeks. There aren't enough hours in the day to do all the activities offered. Our luggage was brought to our room sooner than on any other cruise. Our room steward was at our door before we were even set sail introducing himself and asking us our preferences. Every day onboard there were things to do. Shipbuilding, game playing, crafts, boat building and even knitting. Then there were the fun deck parties. At night we loved the comedy club and shows.

I was in a boot and though i did not ask for a wheelchair, I happily acctepted one when it was offered. From there I was wheeled through the terminal and onto the ship. After a day of flying I was extremely thankful for the comfort of being off my foot.

Why was a comedian hired for a 3 night stint who had only ONE routine. His own words were if you saw my performance last night don't come back because I'm doing the exact same thing tonight. I do not like the new policy of emptying out the Comedy Club between performances. If you are there and want to watch the next show you should be allowed to stay. Why are special seats saved for people in wheel chairs? They already have a seat.

Our room steward, room 9215, Germano was excellent. He kept our room clean and our towels fresh. Always spoke to us and called us by name in the halls. He even made a special effort the last night of our cruise to let us know that our room service order for breakfast wouldn't be available. We appreciated the great job he did. Sukunaya also was our assistant room steward and we saw her cleaning throughout the ship. No matter where we saw her on the ship she knew our names and spoke to us. She always had a smile and seemed to be enjoying her job which she seemed to be doing extremely well. We watched Olena throughout our cruise as she bussed tables and cleaned. Her job ethics are above any I often see. I loved watching her work and kept hoping her superiors noted her work ethic. She wiped tables, picked up dirty dishes, pushed in chairs and straightened up things that many other waiters had walked passed. And she did all this with a smile and a friendly acknowledgement to any and all guest. Olena is a lady I would have loved to have gotten to know better. And 2 ladies that were the very nice and helpful to us were Tessa and Ioana in the shops. We bought a couple of Invicta watches from Ioana and she took her time to go to the back and hunt for what we were looking for. Throughout their busy shop duties they both always had time for a friendly visit and a smile. I also want to say thank you to the safety team. On embarkation day a cabin below and over one had 4 people out on the deck smoking with their cabin door open and loud music playing. I called and reported them for smoking. The safety team not only came to my room to find out for sure where I was talking about but I saw them on the balcony talking to the smokers but also called me the next day to check to see if I saw them smoking anymore.

I'm not sure if this is where this goes but I found it very awkward to have to open the cabin door to hear the captains announcements. Other cruises, if the captain spoke, he comes on everything that makes a sound, TV or speakers and always in the room and bathroom. I missed 90% of the captains announcements because I couldn't hear them because I couldn't get to the door quick enough on my injured foot.

Watch your receipt in Joannes in the terminal. They will deliberately overcharge you and then argue they are right. At the stores in town I found nothing but polite, caring, and knowledgeable people that where happy tourist were there. The tram ride is a great way to see a little bit of the island. The chocolate or cocoa museum is free and a great way to learn about the cocoa plant and its process. A must do is to taste a cocoa bean!

I have never felt tourist are welcome in Barbados by the people on the street. The cabbies will cheat you if you allow them. In the terminal if you buy a smoothie from the smoothie shop you will get free wifi that is really good. In front of the smoothie shop is a kiosk called Earth Mother that sells fantastic skin care items

Every person on this island seemed to honestly appreciate our ship being in port and us being on their island. We did the VIP Cocoa Plantation tour and it was fantastic! Our driver was the owner and the guide very well informed. We had demonstrations that we participated in on chocolate making and ate some of the best chocolate candy I have ever had. Be careful of their trash rum, it is potent!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

A couple things are sad about this island: the hurricane damages are still being seen and felt and they have built a pier shopping area that is killing Front Street. Do go on the sky ride and if your a thrill seeker do the zip line. The rafting at the same location was not good at all. No water in their manmade raft area.

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

We were to be in the meeting area at 6:30AM and sat there for almost 2 hours.

That’s great to know about the room stewards. We are in 9231 in 2 weeks. I guess they will be ours as well. How did you like the balcony room on Deck 9 ? How was it with the connecting rooms ? Did that make it nosier / loud?

Thank you for your review, as I will be on this ship in March. As for announcements, I’m thinking that having them broadcast in cabins was ended several years ago amid passenger complaints. I’ve been on several ships, and 4 different lines, and have not heard announcements in my cabin for many years. If someone knows something different, please chime in.
