Review summary
We loved the cruise, the ship, our dining room team, our room steward, and the Cruise Director. Schwartz is fun, silly, professional, informative and upbeat, without being over the top annoying (like we’ve had before) We always love Grand Cayman, we love, love, love Aruba, Barbados & St Maartin were nice, Curacao was ok, Dominica just eh, but Grenada, not!! The people in Grenada were very rude.encounters with many different locals and they were Not friendly at all!! If I could change anything about the ship, it would be the fact that guests are forced to walk through the Smokey casino, or else go outside and walk in and out of the promenade to go around. This can be very frustrating when on the way to dinner or just enjoying the activities inside, or for older guests, wheelchairs, kids, ppl with asthma or any other sensitivity to cigarettes which many ppl have, and you’re forced to go outside to walk around the casino, when it’s windy or raining out or just damp and slippery and we’re all dressed up for dinner. I have heard many other people complain about the very same thing. Some people have asthma, allergies or other issues and just can not be near cigarette smoke. Every time I would go ahead and walk through the casino to avoid having to go outside, around or up and down elevators, I would try to hold my breath, but obviously no one can do that the whole way through and it’s just so uncomfortable having to walk through all that smoke. My eyes burned, my clothes smelled like cigarettes the rest of the night after that. It just really puts ppl in a negative mood. Also there needs to be doors or something closing off the casino to prevent the smoke from traveling into the other areas of the ship. My family couldn’t even enjoy trivia and the other games & bands we wanted to enjoy due to all the smoke pouring into those areas. It’s disgusting really on what’s supposed to be an elegant cruise ship. Restaurants and even bars have banned smoking and it’s Time ships do the same. Especially since they claim fire is one of the biggest dangers on a ship. (I’ve seen people flicking cigarettes off their top railings and their balconies as well) something needs to be done. Or at least design the ships like Royal Caribbean does with the casino downstairs, under the promenade, where guests aren’t forced to walk through it unwillingly. I never once had to walk through the smoke or even see or smell the casino on Royal Caribbean, but we all knew where it was with the gold railings trailing downstairs and the obsessive gamblers aren’t going to let that stop them from finding it, but we didn’t have to smell it. We love Carnival but this is one of the big reasons we choose Royal frequently. That and the Much better talent & shows! We absolutely loved the band, Six O’clock Dock, and the Funky Monkeys, But we had to leave their shows because of the casino smoke pouring into that area! Sad because my parents really wanted to enjoy the band and the smoke was really bothering all 4 of us. The other complaint is the price of the photos. They are way over priced. Doesn’t carnomake enough money from everything else that they don’t need to rob ppl of their beautiful memories. A lot more ppl would buy their photos if they were not so expensive, therefore Carnival would probably break even or even make more $$ from them if they would lower the price! Don’t you want cruisers having their photos to look at and reminisce so they would be encouraged to book more cruises, more often? I’ve heard many, many, many guests say the same thing, so its not just me! It’s pitiful that so many guests have to leave behind so many beautiful photos and memories that have already been taken of their kids and families vacations due to the price.Embarkation
