Review summary

The ship wasn't the best I've ever been on but the people were friendly.  We had one issue with a lady sitting on the smoking side of the casino. She was upset that my husband's smoke was going in her face. She caused a huge scene.  Long story short, she was never asked to leave after threatening and cursing.  We decided to leave because we didn't want to keep the drama rolling. My husband had been playing that machine off and on for a few days and was finally doing ok... he could have missed out on the jackpot.  My only guess is she spent a lot of money in the casino. I guess it didn't matter that we were there with a group of 15 and paid for two rooms, one being a balcony. My parents had a suite. All together our group had 6 rooms.

The dining room was the best... all the employees were amazing,

The excursions were awesome. Honduras I recommend Little French Key. Belize I recommend Goffs Caye.  Both we bought off the ship. This is my 6th cruise and they are by far the most beautiful I have ever seen. We are planning a air trip to Honduras to stay at the little french key next March.

After the whole casino incident we will be taking another cruise but not with carnival.  We didn't feel protected from the ladies harsh behavior. It really came down to who spent more at the casino.  If that was my husband who initiated that scene, I have no doubt we would have been asked to leave. It really hurt my feelings. .. oh and the room service select is minimal.  No more pizza.

The Carnival Paradise was the first non smoking cruise ship.  It had the non-smoking signs under her name.  This did not last to long as Carnival found out,  smokers tend to drink and gamble more then non-smokers and now she has smoking area's just like all Carnival ships.

The lady was WRONG,  she was in one of the very few smoking areas of the ship.   I would have contacted security on her for her abusive attitude.

I'm a non smoker,  never have never will.... but smokers have the rite to smoke in a non smoking area.

Oh I'm having a wonderful day enjoying my smokes

valorier17    8 years ago

Well, that's what a dirty little secret is. Private! Yours is not a secret if the whole world can see. :) not going to sit a fight back and forth. I'm finished here. Have a great day

I couldn't agree with you more. When I smoked (and I did for 40 years), I would light up regardless of who was around me. I felt like it was my right and if it bothered someone, so what. Well, the casino on the ship does have a no smoking area but they didn't enforce it because every time I went there, someone was always lighting up but besides that, heavy smoke was all over the room.

appletonrum    8 years ago

If you have ever been in the casino on a ship then you would've have noticed that there are non smoking areas. And air purifier in the casino. Everyone has a bad habit. We as smokers choose not to hide ours. So valorier17 what's your dirty little secret?

valorier17    8 years ago

Just so you know, non smokers also enjoy gambling. Why there can't be a section to go for non smokers is my question. I do stay away from gambling for the most part myself. But in all fairness, there should be an area for them to enjoy gambling just like smokers. Sorry, but I find most smokers to be inconsiderate people over all. Obviously they don't "give a shit" about their own health, why on earth would they care about anyone elses!

First of all we are talking about adults here. This woman was in a smoking area what did she expect? We only smoke in designated smoking areas. If you don't like it then stay out!!

Kkitty44    8 years ago

But the room service selection seems great to me. To each their own, I guess

Kkitty44    8 years ago

I can't believe that lady! I'm sorry that happened to you. And I'm sorry that any bystanders didn't alert staff to call security for your safety's sake. I'm glad you came away unharmed, but you're right that more should have been done to ensure your safety and such.

The fact there is no "smoke free" casino is pretty shitty. We shouldn't have to subject ourselves to second hand. But I know how it is, I wouldn't have been on the smoking side.

deltaswan    8 years ago

I'm a non smoker but even I know there's no "smoke free" casino. She knew what she was going to get when she walked in.

batch123    8 years ago

^^^ Agree. ^^^ I don't smoke, but I'd have ignored her. Maybe just turned my back to her.

ladynred130    8 years ago

I would of stayed right there and let her bitch

delindajay    8 years ago

Exactly what I mean don't go to smoking section of you don't like smoke.

cruisenmimi    8 years ago

I don't smoke but when in a casino, it is usually full of smokers. I think people who go into the casino make a conscious decision to be in there regardless of the smoke and that extremely rude woman should have been asked to move to another area if she was so unhappy there.

bmac614    8 years ago

Or people can switch to ecigs and use them in the cabins and all around the ship. Not once was I stopped by any employee in any part of the ship to not use it. But I do understand all views

sandrakaymorgan    8 years ago

As I read her statement they were sitting in the smoking area and so was the lady...SHE should have moved not them...PS I never smoked and have COPD.

crusin4gramma    8 years ago

Somehow I feel there is more to this story! I'm not sure why you feel the workers on the ship should somehow protect you from someone's harsh words! I've been on over 30 cruises and people who stay in suites are never given priority treatment on the ship other than in their suite, so not sure why you thought you should be so special. I don't smoke by the way - like I said -I'm guessing there is more to the story.

The room service menu has the same items that they have always offered plus some new items for a very reasonable fee.

If you are in a smoking area you can't complain about the smoke. That's NOT fair. I'm a non smoker but even smokers have rights

valorier17    8 years ago

Not sure why my computer wrote that last line.....should say why should we have to move or walk away?

valorier17    8 years ago

delindajay here is what I mean by my statement. Smokers smoke, allowing that smoke to go into the air that everyone breaths. More people these days chose not to smoke. So inflicting that upon them with no regard for the choice those make to breath clean air is something I find rude. You see, we should t have to walk away from something we are doing or enjoy to accommodate smokers.

dlmccu    8 years ago

Too bad you had that issue but my question is what does the fact that you were with a group of 15 people with 6 rooms, one being a balcony and one being a suite have to do with the main issue? I'm sure that she paid for her room too and maybe it was a balcony or suite... Just wondering! For me I think smokers are rude too but I would have moved. Not worth the aggravation!

delindajay    8 years ago

Wow I'm a very respectful smoker. Smokers don't have many places to go on ship. Non smokers can walk away. We are restricted to small areas.

valorier17    8 years ago

One thing to keep in mind.....smokers don't really care about anyone but themselves. If one can poison their own body, why would they have any respect for anyone else around them? This has been my experience anyway.

panhandleslim    8 years ago

We got pizza from room service this past June....hmmmm?!?

terry115    8 years ago

Breeze is a Great Ship sorry smoking caused you to have a bad time.

magnason    8 years ago

I quit smoking almost 2 years ago but I think the lady was in the wrong. Your husband was in the right. We were on the Breeze this time last year and we weren't impressed with Carnival. We will be going on NCL again this November. Sorry your experience was bad.
