For our first cruise ever it exceeded all expectations by susanfuson84

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The food and drink were excellent. Service everywhere on the ship was superb. We definitely enjoyed the Art Gallery and Auctions. The excursions were great but seemed to be very rushed in order to get back to the ship on time.

Every thing is great. except one elevator was out of order for 90% of the time. It's hard for seniors depend on the elevator to up and down of the ship

Thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. The food was delicious; the beds in our stateroom were very comfortable. The evening shows were excellent. I felt very safe at every port. I would recommend this cruise to others.

Great experience by deanalika

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The only issue we had is that we booked the Deluxe Renewal of Vows package and I had to call/visit the front desk 4+ times to obtain all of our benefits because the cruise line somehow didn't seem to realize we had paid for this package. Once the hassle was over it was a beautiful vow renewal, but Princess could have done a lot more to make us feel special, rather than require us to practically beg to obtain the amenities we'd paid for.

Cruise better then advertised!! by fewell2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Before the cruise I thought that a 10 day cruise might be too long. Boy, was I wrong!! This was a wonderful experience, with a few exceptions, from beginning to end. As always, staff was helpful and friendly. Food was fantastic, again, as usual. Ports of call were very good, especially Cartagena and Limon! The only downside was that the ship seemed a little tired looking. It could use a good refurbishing. In our room, for instance, the vent was held to the ceiling with duct tape. Overall, though, a relaxing, exciting experience that we would do again!!

Not what we paid for. by mark22157752

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

As you can see, I wasn't able to rate most of the planned stops. Our itinerary was changed due to the Hurricane. While this was no doubt unavoidable, we would never have booked this cruise for the stops we did make. Princess should have offered significant refunds for this. Instead, all they offered was a measly 20% of whatever cruise fare you paid as a discount off of a future cruise booked on Princess by Dec. of 2019. This is unacceptable. Given the mediocre food served in the main dining rooms, and otherwise 'same ol' same ol'" we are unlikely to rebook with Princess at all. This was our 19th cruise (3rd with Princess) and it seems evident that the cruise line owners are paring down in many areas to keep their profits high. This is easily seen in everything from poor quality drinks-margaritas made from pre-mixes sold in cartons like milk containers and served in cheap/small plastic cups (for $10!) to the standard wines that are at least double land prices BEFORE they tack on an additional 15% bar tip! Princess is rolling out their "medallion class" service. This is just an RFID token that you wear along with your ship card (transitioning) While this may end up being great idea sometime, it doubled all security scans while embarking/disembarking the ship. All drinks still needed the regular ship card for purchase. About the only feature these offered was that they would usually sense your presence as you approached your cabin door and unlock it for you. This was a nice feature as it required less fumbling at the door, but since it activated from at least 10' away, I could see this as a potential security concern as someone else nearby might have access to your cabin. Definitely try the Crown grill. This type of food and service is probably what used to be the norm for main dining rooms prior to 'up-charging'. Princess and others have substituted quantity for quality these days. People should come home raving about the great cruise foods. While many probably still do, they're probably referring to specialty restaurants. You'll find that most dining room options are little more than what your mother would probably make (if she's a decent cook) when you go home for a visit. Offerings typically have a 'comfort food' ambience and are probably not what you would order when going out to eat (various beef cuts, potatoes/gravy/vegetables-unremarkable salads and appetizers etc.) No matter the fancy descriptions, it's all what you would find at a 50's diner for about $10-12 bucks. Decent, homey, filling, but pretty boring. For all of the touting of 'Master Chefs' etc. I have no idea where this talent might be exhibited-perhaps at 'Captain's Table' offerings? (along with ultra high up-charges) Without exception, all bread EVERYWHERE was exceptionally dry and could not be consumed w/o a lot of beverage. I have no idea how they can accomplish this as it is relatively easy to make fresh moister bread. ALL of Princess' bread seemed days old-always. You choices were limited to plain buns, plain buns with crumbs sprinkled on top, and plain buns with two variants of seeds on top. There were the same offerings occasionally in darker wheat buns. Don't bite into any of these without watching your clothes for the cascading crumbs falling off of these and onto your clothes and table. This should be evidenced by the waiters need to scrape the crumbs off the tables in between dishes. In the buffet, you can load up your plates (again quantity-not quality) with deserts that look tasty, but almost always were a let down. Sandwich offerings were a thing of awe! Imagine you being tantalized by 'red pepper and broccoli' on a bun! Picture nearly meatless sandwiches buried in soggy vegetables! Picture yourself having fun as you wonder 'what the he!!' is that on that bread!?!? Yeech! Of course, incorrectly labeled sandwiches adds to the adventure here! When hotdogs of questionable meat sources appear to be the most appetizing offerings on many days, this should signal someone that these areas are truly in distress. Soups were clearly left overs from the main dining rooms whether unaltered from the night before (and now overcooked) of just made from left overs, weren't necessarily bad (hard to wreck most soups) but they were pretty obviously 'seconds'. "International" offering were both ugly and low end. These must be an insult to those serving them if they are of the featured nationality. I'm no food snob by any means, but when anyone would willing choose McDonald's/Taco John's/Arby's etc. offerings over ANYTHING on the buffet someone should take notice! (Actually, 'branded' foods might be an idea cruise lines should look into-I'd bet guests would overwhelmingly choose these over what they offer.) The results of choices like that would probably shock the ship's 'chefs'. For entertainment the new show "Fantasy Voyage" (or something like that), is not to be missed. Kudos to everyone involved with this production! In all Princess can and should be doing much better. While we will probably give them another chance in the future, I hold low expectations.

Great Ship , Outstanding Staf , Not So Great Food by servingfood

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I've sailed the Regal Princess , and Now this ship the Caribbean Princess . The staff aboard both ships were OUTSTANDING . However the food , and specialty food was disappointing here on the Caribbean Princess . Room service food ( Ordered 5 times ) ALWAYS arrived cold , and condiments would be unpredictable. Meaning one day I ordered a hot dog and it came with sides of mayo , mustard, ketchup and relish . The next time I ordered a hot dog it arrived with just mayo and mustard . When I called down I was told that I had to specifically ask cor condiments. Hmmmm , I hadn't before and it came with ketchup. Anyways , besides the food being consistently cold , and the condiment debacle , My last pet peeve was again,,,,,,,,,Room Service . I had ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with fries . When it arrived ( Other than being cold and served on toast, No grilling involved ) I find that it was made with a thin slice of swiss cheese ( a cold cut at that)I call the front desk and inquire about it being swiss and not american cheese . I was informed that grilled cheese sandwiches are made with swiss cheese and not american cheese. Hmmmmmm , And to think that I've been doing it all wrong all these years. Anyways she goes on to tell me that they have no american cheese . I quickly see that this is going nowhere and politely say goodbye . No American cheese huh ? I just had it on my cheeseburger last night , Oh well , you see my point . Other than the food ? I have no complaints . Staff was outstanding and the ship was beautiful.

Our first cruise by OksanaCoyne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The only problem that we had was going to excursion for snorkeling to Mayan Key Island , Roatan. It was soooo dangerous. We said that we never done snorkeling and the guy didn’t say anything how to use life jacket or snorkeling mask, I basically was choking because of that jacket and didn’t have fun at all. My mother and my husband injured legs because of corals. It was so unprofessional and dangerous. No one told us that we have to rinse off from the ocean water and apply a bug spray. We were bitten by bugs a lot. I think we have to get our refund.

First Class as always with Princess Cruises! by edna68385865

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Princess is my cruise company of choice, even though I love Cunard. A little too casual compared to past. I have not cruised in the last five years. The change was a little overwhelming. Formal night was not the same as in the past. Again, not enforcing the dress code in dining room really bothered me. Flip-flops, cargo shorts and shirttails hanging out is not dress code. Atrium entertainment very loud. Switching last formal night to Wednesday instead of Thursday was a real let down. Traditional dining room service and food excellent. Staff excellent. So good I gave extra tip. Entertainment was not Princess quality. Not entertaining as in the past and much too loud.

A great time was had by all! by hillkaylan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Every minute of our trip was amazing! Every port of call gave us as much or as little activity as we wanted, with plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. We encountered several people sailing on other ships (both Carnival), who were rushing to get back to port hours before us. Onboard the staff and service couldn't have been better!

Excellent cruise but bad choice if you are strict vegetarian ! by bhamipriya

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Vegetarian food was a big problem if you are strict vegetarian ( no meat , no egg, no fish) ! We notified Princess Cruise one month in advance about it. While onboard, We complained to head waitress Mila and her supervisor. We talked to Indian Chef but it did not make much difference. I wish they learn from our experience! We had better experiences with Norwegian and Royal Caribbean Cruises.
