Review summary

We met a great group of men during the LGBQT+ gatherings. The mix of ports of call and days at sea seemed ideal. We were never bored. Despite missing half our cruise because we needlessly were caught up in problems with our cabin, we had a relaxing experience. The Caribbean Princess needs an overhaul: it is showing its age.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The wait staff was attentive and efficient. Considering the numbers they prepare for the food was very good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My husband loves kareoke, so the kareoke aboard ship was a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed each other's performances.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The singers and muscians were entertaining. Always some musical performance going on.

Children's Programs

We do not have children.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Guest services was slow in resolving issues with our cabin. We sent much too much time insisting that problems with our air conditioning, or rather lack thereof, be solved. All other staff were efficient in a mechanical way.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was typical in layout. Sadly, it is in serious need of a reboot of decor. Worn around the edges.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
It was without airconditioning. Our first night, we woke in pools of sweat. After a second night, told that the problem had been resolved, there was not evidence to support their claim. The guest service was distant and unhelpful. The supervise Carlos was callous and unconcerned even knowing my husband has a serious heart condition and had just undergone surgery. While at dinner, my huband collapsed. He had to go to the Medical Center for treatment which they than tried to charge us for the service. Things took a nasty turn until the Service manager Andrew agreed to waive this charge. We lost the first half of our trip because of their inapt handling of our cabin's problem.

Ship tip

If you have another option, take it. This ship is in urgent need of an overhaul.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Well organized. Staff was efficient in directing traffic.

George Town, Grand Cayman

None of its excursions appealed to us.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Had a great time sailing around the island on a catamaran.

Belize City, Belize

Mayan ruines were great. Our guide was informative and entertaining.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We walked off the ship without a hitch.
