Review summary

This was our 5th cruise and 2nd Princess Cruise (Alaska). We had a great time but were underwhelmed with the ship. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the ports of call. Very professional staff and glad they were able to return to what they do best.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
As expected. Appreciate the vaccine and negative test requirement. Not sure what the app was for since we had to provide proof of negative test through photos.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Took 2 hours the first night for the Coral Dining Room, but all other meals were under 75 minutes. Great staff and outstanding menu options. My son LOVED Slice!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools and hot tubs were good. There was a lack of good adult activities on the Princess Patter compared to previous cruises. I enjoyed the fitness center and went every day.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Carlos Oscar was hilarious, Nathan Fan was OK. He needs to pick a lane, probably Broadway as his comedy and magic are mediocre.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Loved the Discovery Zone and my son had a great time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Exceptional service in Choral Dining Room, very personable, especially from Charie, Guillermo, and Diana. Sonny, our room steward was good, but seemed put out when we asked for an American extension chord (for a CPAP machine). To his credit, he let us borrow his personal chord for two days until we found one in St. Thomas.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship seemed dated, and it came to our attention that this was a Carnival ship when we were expecting a Princess ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very pleased and enjoyed the larger TV and show selection since last cruise.

Ship tip

Was a Carnival ship and seemed dated.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Embarkation only

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Enjoyed the beach and snorkeling with stingrays. Not much else to do and not many food options.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
Enjoyed the sky-lift to the top but only a restaurant once you get there. We went back down and walked around the city.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the shopping and ate at Latin House. Lots of pushy locals.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Organized and timely

Carnival owns Princess Cruises since 2003. Is that what you meant?

Where you get the information about the Caribbean Princess was formerly a Carnival Cruise Ship?
