Review summary

Been there, done that. Not enough draw that I feel compelled to go back with exceptions of Costa Rica for more time in rainforest and have a beach experience AND Grand Cayman to snorkel with rays and reef.

Embarkation

Went very smoothly; save yourself a little hassle by fully signing up with their Medallion Class app & familiarizing yourself with it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Often the buffets offered a better selection. Lots of repetition in menus. Hot food was not, cold food was not; everything was just warm.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Enjoyed number of pools. Dolphin pool area very loud, unpleasantly so. I didn’t find any open deck to run on without having to go up and down stairs — not the best on a ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Lacked WOW Factor. Relied too heavily on Cruise Director and his staff to carry the day — fortunately they were pretty good.

Children's Programs

Not traveling w a child(ren).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All EXCELLENT!

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Did not care for circulation patterns onboard, confusing, not straightforward, often no direct way between points/decks.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Suited my needs perfectly. Steward did an excellent job. Did not, do not appreciate having to pay full fare for second person when traveling solo.

Ship tip

The WalkOff Disembarking procedure was not clear communicated nor implemented (largely because guests did not follow instructions). Additionally, when shire excursions are cancelled or modified, Excursion Desk and staff need to be available for extended hours and not rely on online services that didn’t function properly.

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

2 out of 5
Falmouth itself wasn’t much. None of the excursions were different from experiences from previous time in Jamaica.

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
Did Fort Felipe and Old Town, very enjoyable and knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide, Emily.

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

5 out of 5
Miraflores locks and Old Panama City — important to see old and new locks; visitor center very helpful with history and mechanics of operation. Also, with your you get beyond Gatun Lake and see the Pacific.

Cristobal, Panama Did not visit port

Took other excursion, only had time for vendor market on dock upon return to ship.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
Canal and Rainforest excursions was EXCELLENT, guides were very knowledgeable.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
Very impressed with Turtle Centre. Fortunately stopped for pictures at end of Seven Mile Beach. Rum “Factory” stop was disappointing. Was given “what for” by unfriendly shopkeeper in Hell. Glad we stopped and saw the unique formations. Extremely disappointed our encounter with Rays was cancelled presumably because of inclimate conditions.

Glad you did enjoy. I know the feeling about traveling solo and having to pay for that 2nd person, did that many years ago. Some of the new ships now have a few cabins for a single person.
