Over all a very enjoyable cruise. The change in flight by American was a big pain, but not a Princess issue. The Medallion system was very convenient for room access and ordering from the bars. Initial access of the system was a pain. Many older passengers (like us) had difficulty using it. If you've never downloaded an app before, it can take a lot of time to get set up in the system. I was able to download the app on my Apple phone, but it never worked. Access through my laptop (PC) was more successful, but the system would not allow my wife to use it (so we used her computer minutes in the Internet Cafe).
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Only issue was the airline schedule - changed by American so not a Princess issue.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main Dining selections were very good (typical of Princess). A few meals were Excellent. Did not go to any specialty restaurants for dinner. A few of our table-mates did and they felt the meals were excellent. The buffet food was good-to-very good for lunch and breakfast. We did not have dinner in the buffet. Getting an open table was nearly always a problem anytime during normal meal times.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
There was no outdoor track, so running had to be done on a treadmill. Only 1/2 court basketball available. Ice packs were not available in the Fitness Center (according to the Spa personnel, did not get a chance to ask the Trainer in the Fitness Center).
Entertainment
4 out of 5
In general, the entertainment was good to very good. One of the production shows was delayed a day due to the hurricane, and one other did not run at all due to "technical difficulties".
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room stewards were excellent - as expected. Dining Room service was very good to excellent. There was an occasional order error (on our table but not for us specifically). However, the error was corrected immediately with little delay in the meal service. One order of Tiramisu arrived as a platter of cookies which the waiter said was what Tiramisu was for that day - I think he was kidding, but no explanation on why Tiramisu was not served as ordered. A few days later, Tiramisu was served as ordered. The computer / technical staff was overwhelmed helping passengers with this early use of the Medallion system. The excursion staff and hotel front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
I prefer an outdoor track for running. The Theater was too small for the passenger numbers. Often, you had to arrive 30 to 40 minutes before the start of a show to easily get a seat.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The closet was spacious with plenty of room and hangers for our clothes. There was limited shelf space on the vanity - the only vanity shelves were on the side below table top level.
Ship tip
If there is a show you want to see, get to the theater more than 30 minutes before showtime.
Our arrival was delayed two hours - due to low speed requirements in the river (how was this information not accommodated in the initial scheduling?). We near;y missed our tour of Chateau Frontenac, given the late arrival and the Cycling Race being held in and around Quebec. We had to schedule the tour through the hotel since Princess did not offer a tour of the hotel.
