This was our first cruise, we thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to our next cruise. We were a group of 8.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Totally amazing! I watching how they loaded all the luggage into cages and then brought 3 cages at a time to the X-ray station and eventually onto the ship. Our luggage was waiting for us outside our stateroom when we got there!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
It took a few days to figure it all out but I really liked the ability to either go to the buffet or sit down in a restaurant and still not have to pay extra. I was very happy when I found the buffet station at the back of the ship for breakfast! The food was excellent and the servers were great!!
Crown Grill
5 out of 5
Excellent fish and chips and prawns. I had never had mashed peas before but enjoyed them and think I might try mashing my peas at home for a change.
Dining Room
5 out of 5
We often ate at the Island Garden Dining Room. The food was excellent, plentiful, and the wait staff was fabulous!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We took advantage of many of the onboard activities. In my opinion, many of them were geared to a very senior crowd but there were plenty to choose from and we kept ourselves busy.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We found the shows we went to were excellent. It was a little tricky balancing dinner for 8 at a convenient time to get to the show on time. We needed to wait for the second show a few times.
Movies Under The Stars
5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the Cirque de Soleil at the Movies Under the Stars. It was fun to watch while in the hot tub and pool! The other movies didn't interest us but watching the Super Bowl under the stars was amazing, we were rooting for the Patriots- there's always next year.
Princess Theater
5 out of 5
Great seating and great shows!!!!
Children's Programs
We didn't have any childrew with us but I thought there seemed to be plenty to keep younger passengers busy :)
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward, Roel, was amazing! He learned our names right away and greeted us by name whenever he saw us. Things on the ship were kept very clean. I remember watching one of the staff wiping down every bar stool at the back of the ship! One of our party had a birthday and balloons and a Happy Birthday wish were posted on her door, how thoughtful! On another note, a medical emergency needed to be taken care of our first day at sea, the crew was amazing, he was airlifted and we heard things worked out well. Outstanding!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Extremely clean and maintained! It was a little funky getting to the front of deck 5 from the back of deck 10 but once we figured it out it was fine.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I was pleasantly surprised at the size and comfort of the inside cabin. For the difference in money I would choose an inside cabin again and use the difference (for the balcony room cost) towards shore excursions. I loved the nightly chocolates left on the bed, nice touch....
The first few days at sea were a bit rough but we soon got used to the rocking and rolling, got our sea legs and didn't let it affect our time.
Ship tip
Don't miss the made to order omelettes at the back of the ship.
Talk to the crew, they are very friendly and helpful and can let you in on little things that can make your trip even better.
This is where we embarked and disembarked. We had an excellent dinner and ice cream at Jaxons and great Cincinnatti chili at Starlight DIner. Dania Beach Pier was a nice beach to spend a few hours while waiting for a flight home.
We spent the day on the island. Wish I had worn my water shoes, the nice sandy beach stops about 2 feet into the surf!. Fabulous start to a fabulous vacation. The only thing that would have made it better was a few sandwiches provided as we left the ship to replace the buffet that couldn't happen because of the delayed arrival.
Our first time to South America! The walled city was interesting, the walking tour of the galleons turned souvenir shops, emerald jewelry store, church and museum were terrific, educational and colorful!
Watching the locks work and thinking of the engineering that went into designing them was fascinating! We watched going through from the front of deck 14. One of the staff showed us the way, we were actually on top of the bridge.
Loved seeing sloths and howler monkeys! Would have loved to zipline but it was pricey for us so instead we did a bus ride, walk in the rain forest and boat ride on the canal. Loved every minute of it!
Probably my favorite if I could even pick a favorite. Noticeably cleaner, no vendors harassing you. We swam with the dolphins and with stingrays. Never thought they were such timid creatures, they were huge and so friendly. Sorry, no pictures, my phone stayed out of the water....
No problems. Amazing how they disembarked >3000 passengers in an hours time. A bit of a wait in customs but not bad. Ground transportation was very easy to get, we opted to get our own taxi, it was $20 to the airport for both of us! We found a baggage storage to hold our bags for $7 apiece and took a taxi to Dania Beach Pier because we had a 7 hour layover. It was well worth it. The beach was lovely and the food at the Quarterdeck delicious!
