Review summary

Overall Caribbean Princess was a great first-time experience for me. I'm very independent and I wait for no nam or woman so I roomed on my own, I will more than likely not go with a group again as I don't need folks checking up on my because I'm not doing what they think I should be doing, No yourself and plan accordingly. On vacation do what you enjoy.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Except for the misplacing of my luggage (it was found in another room - I believe the first room I was assigned - but there was another upgrade besides the first), the embarkation party was fun, fun, fun ...lots of dancing and music playing and I love to dance.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I know the chefs must temper their preparations to engage different tastes and cultures; but I found the food to be either fabulous or tasteless. My best experience came from the dinning room of Sabatini's. Yum, yum. yum.

Sabatini's Italian Trattoria

5 out of 5

Wow, Wow, Wow!! Since noone from my group wanted to pay the $25 to eat here, I went by myself. That's O.K. 'cause I don't have to eat with anyone to enjoy the food and have a good time

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There gym is fabulous. I needed someplace to work off all the food I had tried. I booked three personal training sessions and my first ever hot stone massage. :) I brought along my bathing suit buy I'm not a pool person so I didn't engage or partake of the pool.

Lotus Spa

I have issues with being touched so I had never had a message before, Anna, who worked on me was very understanding and made my first ever message session a fabulous one.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Would have given a five except for the stage shows. Full disclosure my now 40 year old son use to be in Musical Theater (NYC) and I've seen my share of productions. They were O.K. and to me somewhat entertaining. I realize I was on a ship and some of the talent may ae lacking as opposed from an extended run on Broadway where the talent has a chance to really polish the numbes. However, I loved the game shows, and the two times I was in the Skywalker night club on board, the DJ rocked the house.

Children's Programs

Had no children with me and the dates of the cruise, schools were in session.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Myy Steward, Jose, A403, was friendly, polite accommodating, professional and went out of his way to ensure what I needed was provided.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
My Steward, Jose - A403, was professional, engaging, friendly, accomadating and did my room with the leaast amount of fuss. As a directionally challenged person, many parts of the shiip was confussing -- was I own deck five, seven, or 15. Some of the elevators didn't go all the way up but the signs didn't s state that anywhere. You had to look at the butons to see where you could go on what elevator.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Small but clean and I did take the least expensive option since I was traveling by myslef. I can't imagine having two people in a room unless you really, really know each others, likes and dislikes. So love whould have to be alaround.

Ship tip

My thoughts: For those counting the number of steps they take daily, you will get at least 10,000 plus steps waling through this ship without even walking the promanad on deck 7.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

3 out of 5
Busy and overwhelming. Check in became slow as someone had to be taken off the ship (emergency) before we embarked pushing everything back exept the ariving passengers.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Tram, Bobsleding and Zip Lining at Mystic Mountain, or was it Magic Mountail I would have given this a five star rating except for the tour guide. She tried hard but don't sing if you can't sing (Maybe no one told here should could't sing) and she only told us things about Bob Marley and Harry Balafonta's parents (Harry was born in NYC).

Cartagena, Colombia

Not sure how a country can regulate a swarm of very aggressive vendors except by energizing their economy to put more people to work with good paying jobs. Also the electric wires bringing electricity into the buildings, seems all to be gerryrigedm, yikes. I did the Folkloric dance tour as I am interested in seeing wht those dances look like, especially Cumbis as I wanted to know the gensis of it.

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

Barley saw this port but I went on a fabulous excursion into the rainforest and learned about the Indians who taught the Americans what to eat and not eat; how to protect themselves from malaria, insecet bits ,etc. The ship uses Tours that have guides registered in the Country of Panama, no B.S. here. Everyone who acts as a guide had a four-year degree.

Colon, Panama

As this was the port we went to after our excursion, to reboard, I have nothing to say about it as it is a working port that is integril to the operation of the Canel.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
Loved, loved this tour. Like Panama, everyone envolved with the excursions supported by the ship, have four year degrees and must major in a specif area of Biology dealing with the reptitles, inscets, animals of the rainforest. I hiked hrough the trails , walked up to the top of a waterfall, not for the physically limited. and visited a plant and animal reserved area shared by Panama and Costa Rica

George Town, Grand Cayman

As a New Yorker (Brooklyn) this reminded me of the Financial District of Manhattan ((they have 500 banks) plus souvenner shops with goods make in China.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
As this was our Embarkation point, the same busyness and overwhelming atomsphere reigned. Because my plane going to Orlando (a stop off before haeding back to NYC,) was leaving at 3:30pm, I took another excursion to the Holiday alligator park and then a animal sanctauay. (I'm probably getting the names mixed up) Because it was cold, but so was the entire country. I didn't enjoy this as much as I would if it was warm.
