Review summary

This was our 4th Princess Cruise and the Caribbean Princess met all of our expectations based upon prior experiences and compares very favorably with other ships we have cruised.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We rate the dining experience on a Princess ship at the top

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The entertainement was predictable - Broadway type musical and dance routines; but the cabaret singer and comics were excellent. For our tastes we would like more of the latter and less of the former

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The room and dining room staff were just great. The only area which we could see improvement in would be more bar staff - sometimes an extended wait was necessary to find a waiter or to receive service

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship shows its age in some areas but was very clean and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a mini-suite which was well worth the extra cost and the room service was exceptional

Ports of call

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
we took a bus tour to the Bay of Fundy - unfortunately the tide was near high tide so we could not experience the large tide fluctuations - there was little to see before getting there
Don't Miss: Understanding and seeing the topography that causes the large tides is a must

Newport, Rhode Island

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed our tour of Newport and visiting one of the elegant vacation homes from the early 1900's
Don't Miss: Be sure to see the lovely vacation homes of the rich built in the early 1900's

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
This was our favorite port - the scenery and leaf colors were breathtaking. We participated in the tour lobster bake luncheon and learned how to prepare a lobster to eat. It was very tasty!
Don't Miss: Arcadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain are must sees

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
we just did a self tour in Halifax - the weather was cloudy and threatening rain but it offered some nice scenery and exercise
Don't Miss: The Maritime Museum with the displays on the Titanic and the 1917 explosion was very interesting

Boston, Massachusetts

3 out of 5
We took a bus tour which covered most of the highlights and provided an interesting historical background
Don't Miss: Don't miss the old North Church and location of the Boston tea party

Pros: We loved seeing the colors and scenery at Bar Harbor Maine

Cons: Flying in and out of NY
